NKR could ask friendly Muslim countries to fund restoration projects on the Mosques (make sure Turkey and Azerbaijan hear about it, just stir the sh1t up)....and if they turn it down then what does it say about them? I am sure Iran would pitch in at least. This request should come from Artsakh (with the approval of the Church), not Armenian government, I would think.

Iran already funded the Blue Mosque's restoration and I might be wrong on this, but I have some vague memory that it was funding the restoration of Shushi's mosque too, though it's odd that it was not mentioned in the article.

Medieval Armenian cemetery renovated in Turkey

Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul and Turkish local authorities jointly renovated a medieval Armenian cemetery in Sivas province (former Sebastia).

The cemetery dates back to 1061 and is of immense importance for Armenians reports Hurriyet Daily News. Local Turkish authorities covered 70 percent of expenses, the rest was covered by the Patriarchate and representatives of Armenian Community.

“The cemetery was being devastated, subjected to numerous desecrations on behalf of thieves and treasure hunters. All renovation works were carried out according to Christian traditions with assistance of Istanbul Patriarchate. We have restored gravestone inscriptions, planted trees and build pathways,” said Governor of Sivas province Dogyan Urgup. “Our aim is to restore the historical appearance of the province.”

It could also give the image that we are awaiting for the Azeris to return, which is not the fact. We should focus on the restoration of our Churches and khachkars, our cultural monuments have already taken up a good amount of beating in the area. We shouldn't waste our time on those ... mosques. One mosque in our country is enough. More than enough.

The above contains mostly garbage. Though I wouldn't expect the Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul to know about (or to be honest about) its own history. The cemetery that "dates back to 1061" was demolished in the 1930s and now lies under the railway tracks of Sivas station. The cemetery being talked about dates only from the 1940s. Go there if you want to hear the sound of thousands of marching Turks chanting about destroying their enemies (the cemetery is surrounded on all sides by army bases, with the security fence of one forming the boundary of the cemetery). However, except for that, it was quite a picturesque place to visit until Turkish/Armenian-style "renovations" ruined it. Those "renovations" actually took place 4 or 5 years ago, what this article is based on is just some repairs that havebeen done to those already crumbling "renovations". http://www.anayurtgazetesi.com/defau...aber&id=352442

YEREVAN. – The committee on culture of Armenian Public Council (PC) will hold session with three major questions on the agenda, PC press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

During its session committee plans to discuss proposed changes in Armenian national emblem, flag, and anthem. Additional details about proposed changes were not provided. The committee also plans to discuss the construction of new monument on Republic Square in Yerevan, the main square of Armenian capital.

Committee will also discuss prospects of the national currency park construction.

Senators press Pentagon on Russo-Iran missile work

Four US senators frequently critical of the White House on national security issues pressed the Pentagon on Monday to say whether Russian entities were helping Iran develop ballistic missiles.
Republican Senators Jon Kyl, Mark Kirk, John Barrasso, and Jim DeMint also asked for access to draft documents in Russo-US talks on the deployment of a proposed US missile defense shield in Europe.

"We renew our request for any draft materials you are discussing with the Russians," including a draft Missile Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) and Defense Technology Cooperation Agreement (DTCA), they said.

The message came in a letter to Principal Deputy US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy James Miller, who met with the lawmakers on May 12 to discuss their "concerns" about the missile defense talks between Washington and Moscow.

Miller offered "take back" to the Pentagon the request for access to the documents, according to the letter, a copy of which was obtained by AFP.

The senators also pressed Miller on a past US intelligence assessment they quoted in the letter as saying that "individual Russian entities continue to provide assistance to Iran's ballistic missile programs."

The assessment also said that Russian help "along with assistance from entities in China and North Korea, has helped Iran move toward self-sufficiency in the production of ballistic missiles," according to the letter.

"In 2010, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence reaffirmed that assessment. Do you agree with this assessment?" they wrote Miller.

The senators said they hoped for a briefing "as soon as possible" to address their worries about the security of sensitive US data and systems in any final agreement on cooperating with Moscow.

And they paraphrased a top US Missile Defense Agency official as saying that deploying a radar "in either Georgia or Armenia would have significant advantages for the missile defense of the United States" and asked for more details.

I 100% agree with you - he's a gift to them. I'm not sure if you're Armenian or not (my sense is that you're not - and if you don't feel comfortable saying that's fine).

However, what I am surprised about in relation to the "information war" is: (1) that many (most?) Armenians here don't notice that he's a gift to the other side; and (2) they don't realize the "implications" - and by implications I don't just mean some metaphysical consequence of someone being offended and returning an insult or two: I mean guaranteed negative and tangible results.

The other point is that the guy wreaks of Israeli-Zionism - which people may be amenable to here (not sure) or perhaps simply incapable of recognizing its outward signs. Nevertheless, in our region the totality of such attributes are tantamount to the 'duck quacking at the hunter.'

To use your words, he's absolutely "a gift to [Aliyevbaijani] propagandists" -- If you contacted the Aliyev Foundation and showed them his posts, they would be startled to find out that they didn't pay for them. You haven't overstated the facts.

The irony is that this thread in particular is supposed to advance the information war on Armenia's behalf - not to torch Armenian prospects in the region (including among allies that are already on its side).

Social Darwinism in action, I suppose.

But in the end it's not really his fault ... it's whomever is steering this site behind the curtain: The strategy being employed.
