Nah, just this post needs to be read and its contents digested slowly. There is a lot of information that's not yet familiar to me. "Azeris" (not really, just fascist pan-turkists in Azaristan who dney everyone else their identity) make me sick in the stomach when I read their sites directly. It's better to see at least some Armenian sanity brought to the table while having to digest the anti-armenian rantings.

Armenian Cartographer Sheds Light on Azeri Propaganda

YEREVAN—Propaganda is the tool of diplomats, but propaganda is nothing without facts. The works of cartographer Rouben Galichian provide the best ground for us in this propaganda war. Galichian, who served as Armenia’s Honorary Consul in London from 1992 to 2000 is the author of a number of books on historical and geographical studies. His most recent work is a collection of facts and images revealing the historical-cultural falsifications of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan is holding presidential elections Wednesday, which promise no surprises. Ilham Aliyev, who inherited power from his father, is likely to win a third term in office and keep the lead of the country’s foreign and domestic policies. He’ll continue to accuse Armenia of being an “occupant country” and present the historic falsifications of the Azerbaijani scientific and political mind from international podiums.
“Mr. Aliyev knows where, what, and how to speak. This is diplomacy, where we are somewhat limping,” Rouben Galichian told reporters today. According to him, today Armenia faces the task of presenting the historic truth to the world and resisting Azerbaijan’s falsifications. This is the purpose all of Galichian’s works are called to serve.
Azerbaijan has been insisting for years that Armenians are immigrants to the region, that the historical-cultural monuments in Armenia are of Azerbaijani origin, and other fantastic claims. Galichian’s latest work provides a number of facts proving the opposite.
Azerbaijanis say all churches in Armenia – including those of Gandzasar, Tatev and even Etchimadzin – are of Caucasian Albanian origin. The history says Caucasian Albanians became Muslims in 7-8th centuries. No Christian Albanians were left in the Caucasus by the 9th century. The Armenian Christian monasteries and churches were built mostly between the 6th and 18th centuries. One cannot but ask: how could they have been built by Islamized Caucasian Albanians?
Here is another example of distortion of historic facts propagated by Azerbaijan. They insist that there were no Armenians in the Caucasus before 1820. Once again Galichian refers to history. An ancient world map dating back to the 6th century B.C is kept in the British Museum. It is a small Babylonian clay bar, which depicts the center of the world. There are three countries in the center – Babylon, Assyria and the Ararat Country, which English scholars have translated as Armenia.
It’s worth mentioning a few historic facts about Azerbaijan – a country, as they say with a 3,000-year history, which does not have its own alphabet, using Arabic script until 1929 and then switching to a Latin alphabet afterwards. Ten years later, they switched to the Cyrillic alphabet. After the collapse of the Soviet Union they once again returned to Latin letters. This is a nation “with a history of millennia,” the modern generation of which are unable to familiarize themselves with their written sources in Persian.

(Agencia Prensa Armenia).- An article published by Carlos Antaramian,
a Mexican professor, in Istor magazine this week denounced several
details of Azeri lobby in Mexico.

`Why does Mexico, a country that have not recognized any other
genocide in parliamentary statements (except the Holocaust),
recognized Khojaly, a discussed issue?' asks Antaramian at the
beginning of his text. `After that in late 2011, the following year
they opened in Mexico City two squares restructured by the Azeri
government: the first, called `Mexico-Azerbaijan Friendship Park', had
a huge statue of the leader Heydar Aliyev, father of the current
president of Azerbaijan, before being removed on January 26, 2013, and
the second one, called `Tlaxcoaque-Khojaly Square', has a monument of
a woman raising her arms and a base that reads `Khojaly
Genocide'. Both parliamentary statements and squares correspond to
effective lobbying by the Azeri ambassador Ilgar Mukhtarov', he
explains, considering that Azerbaijan threatened to retire the
investments when they decided to remove the statue of
Aliyev. Mukhatarov stated that `so far, the Latin American countries
were free field for Armenians, since Azerbaijan was not represented in
the region'.

The document notes that one of the examples of Ambassador Mukhtarov
lobby `were the conferences organized at universities in Mexico to
present the Azeri version of Khojaly'. In the report, the professor
carefully explains all manipulations, distortions of history and lies
presented by Azerbaijan: `It is well known that history is sometimes
manipulated and rewritten to be used as a powerful tool of territorial
struggle and even denial of the culture and identity of other
groups'. At the same time, Antaramian recalls that `any Azeri who
dares to challenge the official version of the Azerbaijan's history is
considered a traitor by the government of that country'.

Antaramian also evokes the visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward
Nalbandian to Mexico, where he said that `the parliamentary statements
issued by the Chambers of Mexico contain distortions of the facts of
the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh'. `These documents where written
using only the position of the Azeri Embassy in Mexico, thanks to
Ambassador Ilgar Mukhtarov lobby. He, as Roving Ambassador in Latin
America, has also taken the same document to be ratified by other
congress in Latin America', explained Antaramian, citing the case of
Colombia , where the Senate made a statement `condemning the `Armenian
occupation' and saying that what happened in Khojaly was a genocide'.

Denouncing the various political actors that promoted the
parliamentary statement on Khojaly and agreed to the construction of
statues of Heydar Aliyev and `Khojaly genocide', Antaramian presents a
unique document in the world, showing every stages of the work of
Azeri diplomacy to rewrite and lie about their own history.

Dr. Carlos Antaramian has a degree in International Relations in the
UNAM (1999), and Master and PhD in Social Anthropology in Michoacan
College (2006). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UAM -X
(2008-9). He is currently a professor and researcher in the Multimedia
Production Area of Michoacan College, and is conducting a research on
`La migración armenia en America Latina'. He has recently made the
documentary `Los armenios en La Merced' (2012) and published `Del
Ararat al Popocatepetl. Los armenios en Mexico' (2011), along with
some articles on the Armenian Genocide and Armenian communities in
general. He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI).

Azerbaijanis worldwide to prove "Armenian genocide" actually a myth

There are major efforts underway across the world aiming to prove that the "Armenian genocide" was actually a myth, Chairman of Azerbaijani State Committee on affairs with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov told Trend news agency on December 30.
Armenians has long developed plans on the recognition of the Armenian genocide. In 2015, they are going to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the so-called Armenian genocide, he added.
He said the State Committee and the Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations are undertaking a number of activities in order to prevent it.
In fact, the victims of the genocide were not Armenians. They were Azerbaijanis and Turks. This work will be continued in 2014, he noted.
"This question requires broader activities of diaspora organizations. We, as the State Committee, are coordinating the work," Ibrahimov said.
He said even if the Armenians achieved something, it will not be an indicator of their strength.
"Maybe Armenians will achieve something. Their patrons, the states sympathizing, implement its policies and have their interest. But it does not mean weakness of Turkic diaspora. "Justice for Khojaly" campaign is held in several states of the world at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation," Ibrahimov said.
He stressed that the parliaments, high bodies of most countries have already recognized the events on February 26, in 1992 as genocide, which means destruction of "Armenian myth."
In 1992, the town of Khojaly, situated within the administrative borders of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, came under intensive fire from the towns of Khankendi and Askeran already occupied by the Armenian armed forces.
613 civilians, including 106 women, 70 elderly and 83 children, were killed in the massacre. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled. Eight families were exterminated, and 25 children lost both parents, while 130 children lost one parent. Moreover, 1,275 innocent people were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
"Real genocide was committed in Khojaly. Our activities, including extensive work of Heydar Aliyev Foundation's President Mehriban Aliyeva in this sphere, the work carried out by Leyla Aliyeva, help to inform the world community about Azerbaijani realities, recognition of the Khojaly genocide, the destruction of the "Armenian myth," Ibrahimov said.
He said destruction of the "Armenian myth" will lead to the destruction of the myth about the "Armenian genocide."
Armenia commemorates the alleged "Armenian genocide" on April 24 each year. Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey's predecessor, the Ottoman Empire, committed genocide in 1915 against Armenians, an allegation dismissed by Ankara.
Their efforts have even resulted in the recognition of the "Armenian genocide" by the parliaments of several countries.
Historians note that during those developments, Armenians began an uprising, taking up arms against Turkey. To counter those actions, the Ottoman Empire decided to resettle the Armenians. The latter claim that their predecessors were subjected to genocide in the process.

In the Internet I paid attention to one photo: an old woman hugs a
young man in a military uniform. In the bottom it was written: "Azeri
grandma and Armenian fighter". I sent this photo through the net and
asked people to give me some information about this photo. Istanbul
University teacher Alber Keshish reacted. He told me that the soldier
is his classmate - Sargis Hatspanyan, Artsakh war participant. And
now I talk to Sargis.

-How was the photo made?

-It was in April 1993, during Karvachar liberation. There were hundreds
of peaceful inhabitants, men ran away leaving them helpless.

We approached a group of women. One 80 years old woman asked me with
reproach: "Why are you so late? Very soon the Armenians will enter the
city. Our men said - we leave, we'll send helicopters after you. They
went leaving us here". I understood that the woman took us for their
people. "Armenians are already here", - said I. I was responsible for
the prisoners. All were instructed to be respectful to the population.

We gathered all of them and told them that their life and honour were
safe, and we were not against the peaceful population. In contrast
to Azeri soldiers we don't use weapon towards unarmed, we don't
humiliate them. There was an 81-year-old woman - Sheikha Khanum
who was respected by everybody. She was a poet. I liked talking to
her. She used to say: "This war is not the war of our two people,
we like Armenians, we all know that this is the country of Armenians,
there are Armenian graves everywhere, cross-stones, everywhere there
are marks of Armenian culture". And during this talk Zaven Khachikyan
unnoticeably took our photo.

-How old were you during that time?

-30. After that the French newspaper "Liberation" publishes that photo
and writes that the Azeri woman likes the Armenian-volunteer more than
her son. They publish also an article where they quote Azeri prisoners'
words about the humane attitude of the Armenians. The next day the
Turkish newspaper "Milliyet" writes that against tens of thousand
peaceful inhabitants of Karvachar violence is being used, and they
publish the same photo. Inscription says that the Azeri woman kisses
her grandson (i.e. me) and says - go and take revenge from Armenians
for your killed and humiliated relatives. In Paris one of my friends
sees this newspaper, accidentally he reads also the article in the
"Liberation", takes both newspapers and sends to the European Union
as a striking example of Turkish falsity and slander.

Even in Baku people scoff at statement of Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense on 77-year-old ‘‘Armenian saboteur’’

The statement of the Azerbaijani Minister of Defense on the detention of 77-year-old “Armenian saboteur” on 28th of January, 2014 causes laughter and disbelief even in Baku. Note that the citizen of Armenia, Mamikon Khojoyan on that day crossed the state border and ended up in the area controlled by Azerbaijan.

The article published in Azerbaijani News portal Haqqin.az titled “Saboteur-77-year-old madman Mamikon” accompanied with the photos of the detainee says, “The Azerbaijani Media circulates the photos of Armenian saboteur who appears to be older than 65! It’s time already for the Azerbaijani News Agencies really to learn how to work without such blunders. Now look at that saboteur! One doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry! What can I say? There is nothing to add; these photos say everything.”

It’s noteworthy that earlier the Azerbaijani Media reported that the Armenian citizen was detained by local residents who handed him over the military. The Secretary of Azerbaijani State Commission on prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons Shahin Sailov informed the journalists that Khojoyan is a civilian. He was detained in Alibeili village of Tovuz region of Azerbaijan and handed over to the military.

Later, in the statement of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense 77-year-old man turned out to be a “conductor of subversive group” and he was no longer detained by the civilians, the residents of the border village but by the Azerbaijani military. Furthermore in initial reports of Azerbaijani Media there was no word about the fact that Khojoyan was wounded, whereas the latest statement of the Ministry of Defense claims that the detained man is wounded.

Famous Azerbaijani political observer Rauf Mirkadirov in his article “Very funny situation amid local engagements and human losses” published on the website of Azerbaijani newspaper Zerkalo brings forward the words of Vagif Dyargakhli, the head of the Press service of the Ministry of Defense that the detained 77-year-old Mamikon Khojoyan “is a saboteur and is well aware of the topography.”

Mirkadirov quotes Kamo Chobanyan, the headman of Verin Karmiraghbyur village of Tavush region of Armenia who stated that the detainee 77-year-old Mamikon Khojoyan is a resident of the village who suffers from mental illness and is registered at the specialized clinic.

“At noon the villagers saw him carrying a bucket. They asked him where he was going and he answered “to pick grapes.” How there can be grapes in the winter? The gardens are situated eight km far from the village, thus he went down and accidently crossed the border,” Chobanyan said that he himself learnt about what happened from the Azerbaijani Media when saw the photos of his fellow villager.

Mirkadirov therefore calls for the respect for Azerbaijani servicemen, who are claimed to have a “victory” over “old-man saboteur.”

“Don’t you think that the Armenians could have found a younger scout- saboteur who would have been familiar with the topography? This is not serious: 77-year-old half dead man. Secondly, it turns out that the Armenians don’t respect our army at all as they send 77-year-old men to fight against us. Gentlemen, we should respect our own army! I don’t think that our soldiers there at the forefront every day risk their lives for the reports of similar kind like their victory over old man saboteur…Besides, the old man was noticed, detained and headed over by the similar villagers but from our side. This is not a tragedy but a very funny situation…” Mirkadirov sums up.

On its turn, political scientist of Baku, Zardusht Alizadeh in an interview with the Azerbaijani service of British Broadcasting Corporation BBC said: “the Azerbaijanis present the poor Armenian as a saboteur but this doesn’t mean that it is the truth.”

Alizadeh noted that this kind of cases when the detained Armenian citizens were accused of espionage as well happened before. “But there was no evidence,” the Azerbaijani political scientist added.
