Re: Armenia and the information war
Azeri media unable to provide information
Proudly calling Nakhchivan the Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, Azeri mass media (including news agencies) apparently have no access to general information.
Today, Nakhchivan hosts 9th Summit of the Heads of Turkic-speaking States. According to the scant information, Ilham Aliyev and Abdullah Gul will attend the event.
Meanwhile, 1News.az agency (seeing itself as Azeri media leader) says nothing about the summit. Furthermore, the agency informs of the event referring to Kyrgyz source CA-NEWS (KG), that reads: On October 2-3, the 9th Summit of the Heads of Turkish speaking States will be held in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. The Nakhchivan Declaration and Agreement on Establishment of Cooperation Council of the Turkic-speaking states will be signed at the Summit.
First Summit of Turkic-speaking countries was initiated by Turkish President Turgut Ozal back in October 30, 1992 in Ankara. Leaders of six countries Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan participated.
Wishing the Summit delegates productive work, NEWS.am states that Nakhchivan has entirely dropped out of Azeri information realm.
