Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

    Did we really upgrade our BTR-70s?

    BTR-70 armoured troop carriers that have been extensively modernized:
    - 14.5mm machine gun replaced by a 23 mm
    - Completely redone rear of the vehicle and adapted a different engine.
    Hve we modernized them?

        there is no point to buy large number of BMP3 like azeris did, i case u want to replace BMP1/2. How i already said we operate some, but we will upgrade our BMP1/2

          Upgrade to what exactly? All we can do is add new side armor with ERA and some new targeting and optical systems. I doubt we are even considering that



          The 'extensive modernization of Azerbaijan's T-72s' is actually proposed upgrades to BMPT Terminator 2 IFVs. This is trouble.


          The T-90S tank supply contract is underway. We haven't yet delivered the complete lot. We've fulfilled the agreement roughly to 60%. The deliveries are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2015. We've signed a contract with the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry for 100 T-90S tanks and complete the contract without pondering any new options or supplies," Topayev said.

          In package with the tanks, Baku purchased BREM-1M armoured recovery and technical maintenance and T-90 tank-based IMR-3M counter-obstacle vehicles. As a complement to mounts and MLRS launchers, it acquires all the machines needed for maintenance and fire control. In doing so, Baku bought the latest and most advanced configuration of the T-90S, including a new model of the Shtora optronic suppression system, air conditioning, and target tracking devices. The package of contracts is estimated to be worth USD3.4 billion.


          Rosoboronexport proposed an in-depth modernisation of Azerbaijan's T-72 tanks to the Fire Support Combat Vehicle configuration. "We demonstrated the Uralvagonzavod products to the Azerbaijani president on the static site. On examining the Terminator BMPT-72 tank support vehicle we proposed, taking into account a fairly large fleet of T-72 tanks, to thoroughly upgrade them to the BMPT level and to consider further versions of their modernisation," Topoyev said.

          YEREVAN—Armenia’s armed forces will soon purchase new long-range weapons, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian said Friday during a meeting with professors and students at the Yerevan State University of Economics.
          However, speaking to reporters, Ohanian declined to specify what weapons will be bought, citing it as “a military secret.”
          “Day by day we are enhancing defense and technical cooperation, in particular with our strategic partners, namely Russia, and are updating our weapons,” he said.
          Asked about the sale of Russian arms to Azerbaijan, the minister said that everything regarding development of defense capabilities of the neighboring state is always the focus of the Armenian side.
          “We have expressed our point of view and our concerns in all platforms,” he emphasized.

          Armenia’s military equipment and armament is in experienced hands – in the hands of our soldiers, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said at a meeting with faculty and students of Yerevan State University.

          The Minister stressed that Armenia is modernizing its military equipment. He said that Armenia has long-range and precise military equipment in its arsenal, and has reached an agreement to enhance its military capacity.

          Speaking about social protection programs for servicemen, the official said that these programs are implemented in accordance with government decisions. In particular, he said, they will gradually raise salaries of servicemen. Besides, they implement apartment construction program for soldiers.

            Azerbaboon can get as much weapons as they want, but they'll never have the courage, thinking ability, and strength of the Armenians. Although it would be nice to get new weapons once in a while.

                Guys..all jokes aside..has anyone calculated the consequences of a possible Armenian strike on Mingachevir reservoire? I am not talking about the political consequences of course..those would be devastating...but seriously...if Armenia strikes the reservoire..what are we talking about in terms of civilian and material damages to Azerbaijan, except being deprived of electric power. Does anyone have an accurate estimate or analysis?

                    The reservoir was built on a section of Kura River flowing through Mount Bo.zdağ in 1953.
                    The filling capacity of the reservoir is 83 m (272 ft) whereas the volume is 15.73 km³.
                    It has been filled to its maximum levels in 1959, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1988 and 2010.
                    The length is 70 km (43 mi) and width is 18 km (11 mi). Maximum depth is 75 m (246 ft), average depth - 26 m (85 ft).
                    The length along the shoreline is 247 km (153 mi), the overall area is 605 km2 (234 sq mi).
                    The largest hydroelectric power station of Azerbaijan is located on the reservoir. Mingachevir Hydro Power Plant has an installed electric capacity of 401.6 megawatts.
                    The length of the hydroelectric dam is 1,550 m (5,090 ft), its width is 16 m (52 ft) and height is 80 m (260 ft).

                    The reservoir supplies water to Upper Karabakh and Upper Shirvan channels. It is also a source for fishing, water supplies and irrigation.

                    If you look at the volume of water and low lying lands gives an idea of to be flooded areas. Towns, villages, agricultural land etc.

                    The region will revert to being a marshland, paradise for the wildlife !!.

                    Mingechur is an A-bomb sitting in the armoury of Azerbaijan which can only be used against Azerbaijan.

                    Armenia unlikely to explode this A-bomb except as a last resort.

                    Oil related targets would be first which can also act as blackmail towards oil companies etc to inhibit the Sultan starting a major war.
