Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Mingechur is an A-bomb sitting in the armoury of Azerbaijan which can only be used against Azerbaijan.

Armenia unlikely to explode this A-bomb except as a last resort.

Oil related targets would be first which can also act as blackmail towards oil companies etc to inhibit the Sultan starting a major war.

      .
Yeah...looks like a game changer which we can use when Armenia proper is threatened! BTW...I was checking the satellite imagery (photo below). There are 2 cities sitting under the shadow of Minacevir reservoire: Miacevir city proper (100,000 inhabitants) and Yevlakh (60,000 inhabitants). This is a highly valued target...sort of a last resort option in case azebaijan crosses all boundaries.

"Kliver" modernization package isn't offered by KBP anymore. (Unless of course Moscow requested our modernization to be specific and special) They have new two-man turret for all BMP FoV in list of their products. Can you provide a source for the BMP-1 modernization?

And modernizing the BMP-1 is a lost cause. Its a thin metal coffin for our troops. The Kliver is a weapons package although I do not know if they offer armor/ERA along with it.

BMP-1 and BMP-2 series vehicles share a major drawback with many Soviet tanks. Ammunition is stored near or even inside the fighting compartment which makes them more vulnerable to a hit from an anti-tank round or a missile across the side arc. If that happens, the ammunition often explodes, killing everyone and completely destroying the vehicle.[36] During the fighting in Afghanistan and Chechnya, hits by rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) penetrated the BMP-1's armor in 95% of cases.
We should start looking into new Russian weapons, the same ones Azerbaijan is looking into. If they get their hands on Ka-52s and BMPTs then its serious trouble for us. People need to stop acting like its children behind the wheel of these things. Their ground forces may not be as well motivated, and as well trained as ours, but shrugging off their high tech weaponry is only going to lead to Armenian deaths.

This is what MoD needs to do: Use diplomatic means to either slow down the process of acquisition or keep it from happening entirely.
Begin modernization of our T72 fleet, upgrade many of them to BMPT level, and begin acquisition of T90 tanks or any kind of tank within its generation in order to replace the aging fleet.
Begin to slowly increase the power of our air force, and start to begin to acquire gunships like the Mi-28 and multirole fighters like the MiG-29

Of course we wouldn't be able to do this in a year, but we can do it in 5 years. Maybe more..

And no one is going to waste a missile on some stupid dam. All that is going to do is make mobilization slightly more difficult and displace and possible kill innocent people. (Thats if the dam's destruction does anything)

And I say we re-establish relations with Ukraine! And increase military cooperation! If we can do it with Poland, we can do it with Kiev. No matter how much it pisses off Moscow.

EDIT: What the hell???? We have 81,000 active troops? Is that right?

The Armenian Army, Air Force, Air Defence, and Border Guard comprise the four branches of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian military was formed after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and with the establishment of the Ministry of Defence in 1992. The Commander-in-Chief of the military is the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. The Ministry of Defence is in charge of political leadership, currently headed by Colonel-General Mikael Harutyunyan, while military command remains in the hands of the General Staff, headed by the Chief of Staff, who is currently Lieutenant-General Seyran Ohanian.
Active forces now number about 81,000 soldiers, with an additional reserve of 32,000 troops. Armenian border guards are in charge of patrolling the country's borders with Georgia and Azerbaijan, while Russian troops continue to monitor its borders with Iran and Turkey. In the case of an attack, Armenia is able to mobilise every able-bodied man between the age of 15 and 59, with military preparedness.
The Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, which establishes comprehensive limits on key categories of military equipment, was ratified by the Armenian parliament in July 1992. In March 1993, Armenia signed the multilateral Chemical Weapons Convention, which calls for the eventual elimination of chemical weapons. Armenia acceded to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as a non-nuclear weapons state in July 1993.
Armenia is member of Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) along with Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It participates in NATO's Partnership for Peace (PiP) program and is in a NATO organisation called Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC). Armenia has engaged in a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo as part of non-NATO KFOR troops under Greek command.[86] Armenia also had 46 members of its military peacekeeping forces as a part of the Coalition Forces in Iraq War until October 2008.

Man it would be really nice if Armenia would start producing armored cars. The factories can also bring lots of jobs.

              Preaching to the choir

Armenia did produce an armored vehicle. I believe it was called the Hayk. I don't think it is being produced anymore. Although it may be a secret, I have reason to suspect they cancelled any potential grounds for production.

              Although

I also have reason to believe Armenia is producing its own technical/fast attack armed trucks. Its a start. Its only being used by Intelligence and expeditionary troops. We also have Russian GAZ-Tigrs so...

To be honest..Its a bit pointless. See, Russian/Soviet military is organized by motor rifle divisions and so on. These motor rifle divisions contain IFVs and BTRs partnered with troops. So, you would have to end up reorganizing armored cars in order to get them used. Its much better for Armenia to buy new IFVs and just replace them instead of putting in large scale reforms and retraining its troops. What Armenia should do is have Ukraine upgrade all its BTR-80s and 70s to BTR-3 standard...Those are pretty nice!
