Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Scientists at a Polish company that produce body armor systems are working to implement a non-Newtonian liquid in their products.

The liquid is called Shear-Thickening Fluid (STF). STF does not conform to the model of Newtonian liquids, such as water, in which the force required to move the fluid faster must increase exponentially, and its resistance to flow changes according to temperature. Instead STF hardens upon impact at any temperature, providing protection from penetration by high-speed projectiles and additionally dispersing energy over a larger area.

"This viscosity increases thanks to the subordination of the particles in the liquid structure, therefore they form a barrier against an external penetrating factor," said Karolina Olszewska, who performed tests on the STF for Moratex.

The exact composition of the STF is known only to Moratex and its inventors at the Military Institute of Armament Technology in Warsaw, but ballistic tests proved its resistance to a wide range of projectiles.

"We needed to find, design a liquid that functions both with projectiles hitting at the velocity of 450 meters per second and higher. We have succeeded," said Deputy Director for Research at the Moratex institute, Marcin Struszczyk.

Struszczyk said the liquid's stopping capability, combined with the lower indentation of its surface, provides a higher safety level for the user compared with traditional, mostly Kevlar-based, solutions.

"If a protective vest is fitted to the body, then a four centimeter deep deflection may cause injury to the sternum, sternum fracture, myocardial infarction, lethal damage to the spleen," Struszczyk said.

"Thanks to the properties of the liquid, thanks to the proper formation of the insert, we eliminate one hundred percent of this threat because we have reduced the deflection from four centimeters to one centimeter."

When hit by a high-speed projectile, a wide area of the STF hardens instantly, causing the usually massive energy to be dispersed away from the wearer's internal organs.

Implementing the solution in body armor required designing special inserts, but the company says those are lighter than standard ballistic inserts and broader range of movement for their users in the police and military.

"The point is for them not to interfere, not change the way of movement, operation of such the product by the user, and at the same time increase their motor skills, increase effectiveness of their decision process and increase their possibilities during the mission at hand," Struszczyk said.

The laboratory is also working on a magnetorheological fluid, which they hope can be also applied in their products.

According to the researchers, both liquids can find applications beyond body armor, such as in the production of professional sports inserts, and even entire outfits. Another use could be in car bumpers or road protective barriers.

Video available if you follow link.
Thats cool, but I dont see how that has anything to with Armenia. Lubawa only sells one type of hard ballistic insert. This will be great for the Polish Army in improving their flak jackets, but this looks like its highly experimental still

"suicide". He was probably offed by Aliyev's mafia.

It's official guys, Armenia has Igla-S (SA-24). We ordered 200 missiles and 50 missile launchers from Russia in 2012 and received them all in 2013 per http://armstrade.sipri.org/armstrade...e_register.php and http://www.un-register.org/HeavyWeap...rts.aspx?CoI=9

Igla-S is the most advanced of the Igla MANPADS series and it was what Azerbaijan used to down our helicopter.

The UN arms register all but confirms the 35 tanks and 110 armored combat vehicles we bought and received from Russia too
Federate, in the arms report if it was a MANPADS system, it would have been listed under MANPADs. The 200 missiles 50 launchers is listed under missiles and systems, not MANPADSI think these are ATGMs, not Igla-S

The Russian report claims same number of missiles & launchers (200 and 50) but files them under unknown type of ATGM. One difference is that it reports we ordered them on 2013 and got them the same year. This is different from what SIPRI arms trade reports. Should be noted that the SIPRI arms trade is very specific in what was delivered while the Russian one is not.

Anyway, either one of them is mistaken or we ordered same quantities for two different weapons. Either way, we got some new weapons whether they are Igla-S, an unknown ATGM or both.

Oh okay, I see that it mathches. Thanks! Good to hear about the Igla-S, it has improved resistance to counter measures and the missiles are much more sensitive compared to Igla-1E export

Zakir Hasanov: "We will soon liberate our lands"

Baku. Aga Jafarli – APA. Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has visited the military unit on the frontline.

The Defense Ministry told APA that the minister presented the battle flags to commanders of the military units under the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev. Zakir Hasanov congratulated the staff:

“Today, battle flags were presented to your military units. I would like to congratulate all of you on this occasion. A battle flag is a symbol of honor and glory of a military unit. We wish our battle flags to wave in Karabakh, the integral part of Azerbaijan, through winning all battles with honor and liberating all our occupied territories. We all believe in and are sure of it! Today, the combat readiness of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces is at a high level under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the enemy is in fear and panic. Our decent retaliation leads to the decline of discipline in the enemy’s army and avoidance of the military service in the occupied territories. We’d especially note that hero soldiers and officers on the frontline retaliate to enemy decently. Unsuccessful operations of the enemy result in high casualties. This causes problems, in Armenian army, and Armenia. We say once again that we’ll liberate our lands in a short-time. President noted that we’ll never agree with establishment of the second Armenian state in Azerbaijan’s lands, if Armenian soldier does not want to be killer, let them not come to Aghdam, Fuzuli, or the results will be harder. Today, I appreciate combat activity of your military unit and am sure that you’ll accomplish any task laying ahead of you. I congratulate you again and wish successes in your services.”
