Re: Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
Ordinary Azerbaijanis unwilling to war against Armenia
Most of Azerbaijani youth expressed readiness for war, but said at the same time they wouldn’t like to fight and wished for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict instead. Meanwhile, adults said they don’t want the resumption of military operations against Armenians whatsoever, Minval.az reports.
The website posted a video, in which Musavat.com representatives conducted a survey among residents of Baku to find out public opinion on the issue.
In response to a question on whether Azerbaijani armed forces will be able to “return Karabakh land,” a young Baku resident said: “We are not ready for war, as the society is psychologically unprepared.”
Another young man said that even if Azerbaijan is ready for war, the parties must still resolve the issue peacefully. Another respondent expressed a similar view, adding that there would be no war, with the situation remaining unchanged.
Thus, only one out of 6 respondents expressed confidence and willingness to fight.
