So is it fair to say s300PM is protecting artsakh now? Last i heard of s300ps in syunik was in 2011. It could be years before we get confirmation about it. I hope it is so. Azeris would have a hard time hitting it (except from nakhchivan)

Any source? I've never heard about the acquisition of the s-300PM

Karabakh Constructing New Defense Fortifications after ‘4-Day War’

STEPANAKERT (RFE/RL) — Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has embarked on the construction of new defense fortifications along “the line of contact” around the territory following this month’s heavy fighting between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces deployed there.

“Military engineering works on the frontlines are in progress right now,” Ara Harutiunian, the NKR prime minister, said on Wednesday evening at a meeting with senior government and military officials in Stepanakert and the top executives of local construction firms.

“This must remain a top priority for us for some time because, as have we have once again seen, only strong borders and the bravery of Armenian soldiers can guarantee peace for our children,” he told them, according to his press office.

Harutiunian was also quoted as saying that the government of Karabakh will promptly provide construction firms with “appropriate resources” so that they “organize the works in a timely and efficient manner.” He told government and military bodies to “closely cooperate with the companies.”

An RFE/RL correspondent witnessed the strengthening of Armenian fortifications earlier this week when he visited the northern Karabakh village of Talish, one of the epicenters of bloody hostilities that broke out on April 2.

The Azerbaijani army launched an offensive at northern and southern sections of “the line of contact.” At least 170 soldiers from both sides died in the ensuing fierce clashes that were largely stopped by a Russian-brokered ceasefire on April 5. The flare-up of violence, the worst since 1994, has been unofficially dubbed a “four-day war.”

Davit Babayan, the spokesman for Bako Sahakian, the NKR president, said on Thursday that the Karabakh Armenian leadership is now making contingency plans against another possible Azerbaijani assault. “This situation requires us to revise some components of our defense system,” Babayan told RFE/RL’s Armenian service (Azatutyun.am).

“If the enemy now uses heavy artillery and other long-range weapons, it is only natural that we reinforce our fortifications and make corresponding changes in our tactic and strategy,” he said.

Babayan said that as part of the same effort the Karabakh Armenians will also receive more weapons for their Defense Army closely integrated with Armenia’s armed forces. He said Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian discussed the matter with Sahakian and the Defense Army commanders when he visited Karabakh this week.

No details of those discussions were made public. Sarkisian also toured Karabakh army bases located close to the frontlines and handed medals to more than 30 Armenian soldiers during the three-day visit.

I saw a video someone posted where a car was driving in a trench that was around 12' wide and 12' deep. That would be ideal to have all around Artsakh with major landmines all around with motion sensors. That will make it very difficult of the savages to do their covert operations.

Ապրիլյան քառօրյա պատերազմի ամենակարևոր և քիչ լուսաբանված իրադարձությունները տեղի էին ունենում Աղդամի ուղղությամբ: Ադրբեջանցիներն իրենց հարձակումը սկսել էին սահմանի հյուսիսային և հարավային մասերում ՝ փորձելով շեղել հայկական կողմի ուշադրությունը և ստիպել մեր բոլոր ուժերը կենտրոնացրել այդ երկու ուղղություններում: Սակայն Բաքվի պլանավորած բլից կրիգի գլխավոր գործողությունները պետք է տեղի ունենային հենց Աղդամի ուղղությամբ: Նրանք բավական լուրջ ուժեր էին կենտրոնացրել այդ ուղղությամբ և պատրաստվում էին լայնամասշտաբ հարձակում սկսել:
Եվ հենց այստեղ պետք է մի պահ կանգ առնել և խոսել պատմության մեջ անհատի դերի մասին: Բանն այն է, որ պատերազմի մեկնարկից անմիջապես հետո Արցախի հերոս, ԼՂՀ ԱԺ պատգամավոր, Արցախյան առաջին պատերազմի տարիներին Ասկերանի պաշտպանական շրջանի հրամանատար Վիտալի Բալասանյանը մեկնել էր Աղդամ և ԼՂՀ նախագահ Բակո Սահակյանի համաձայնությամբ ստանձնել այդ ուղղության հրամանատարությունը:

Բալասանյանն անշուշտ մեր բոլոր հրամանատարներից լավ գիտի այդ ուղղության տեղանքը, քանի որ ինքն էր 1993-ին ղեկավարում այդ հողերի ազատագրման գործողությունը: Այսօր վստահությամբ կարելի է ասել, որ գեներալ Բալասանյանի վճռական պահվածքի և մեր հրետանու փայլուն գործողությունների շնորհիվ ենք կարողացել ադրբեջանցիների մոտ վերացնել այդ ուղղությամբ ակտիվություն ցուցաբերելու ցանկությունը:

Պատերազմի առաջին իսկ ժամերից մեր հրետանին Աղդամի ուղղությամբ ադրբեջանական բանակի իսկական ջարդ էր սկսել: Տեղի ադրբեջանական բնակչությունը խուճապի էր մատնվել և անկանոն փախուստի դիմել: Այդ խուճապի արդյունքում խցանվել էին ադրբեջանական կողմում գտնվող բոլոր կարևոր ճանապարհները, և առաջնագիծ ուղևորվող ադրբեջանական զորքերն ու զրահատեխնիկան հայտնվել էին թակարդում:

Մեր հրետանին սկսել էր ոչնչացնել հակառակորդի կենդանի ուժն ու զրահատեխնիկան: Պաշտպանության բանակն այդ օրերին Աղդամի ուղղությամբ ոչնչացրել էր ադրբեջանական կորպուսներից մեկի հրամանատարին: Նույն կորպուսի շտաբի պետը, որը ստանձնել էր հրամանատարությունը, նույն ճակատագրին է արժանացել: Հայկական կողմը պատերազմի օրերին Աղդամի ուղղությամբ ոչ մի զոհ չի ունեցել: Ադրբեջանական բանակի ստորաբաժանումները, հարյուրավոր զոհեր տալով, կազմալուծվել էին և փախուստի դիմել:

Ապրիլի 5-ին ձեռք բերված զինադադարի բանավոր պայմանավորվածությունից հետո Աղդամի ուղղությամբ գտնվող ադրբեջանական բնակավայրերը շարունակում էին մնալ ամայի: Ոչ բնակչություն կար, ոչ էլ զորք: Եվ ակնհայտ է, որ հայկական ուժերի հակահարվածի դեպքում առանց որևէ կորուստների հայկական բանակը կարող էր բավական առաջ գնալ եւ դուրս գալ Աղջաբեդի քաղաք, որն արդեն Կուր-Արաքսյան սահմանն է:

Այդ հաղթանակի մեջ Վիտալի Բալասանյանի վճռորոշ դերը լիովին գիտակցելու համար հարկ է նշել միայն, որ այդ ուղղության հրամանատարներից ոմանք ցանկանում էին նահանջել մինչև Խրամորթ գյուղ և այնտեղ մարտի մեջ մտնել ադրբեջանցիների հետ: Ակնհայտ է, որ այդպիսի որոշումը կարող էր անդառնալի հետևանքներ ունենալ հայկական կողմի համար: Բալասանյանը կանխել է այդ սցենարը:

Ի դեպ, ռազմաճակատի հյուսիս-արեւելյան հատվածում նույնպես նման իրավիճակ է ստեղծվել, երբ ադրբեջանական կողմը խուճապի էր մատնվել եւ փախել մարտադաշտից: Խուճապ էր առաջացել նաեւ այդ ուղղությամբ ադրբեջանական Թերթեր քաղաքում, եւ հայկական ուժերը կարող էին իրենց վերահսկողության տակ վերցնել այդ քաղաքը: Սակայն զինադադարի մասին որոշումը կանգնեցրեց այդ գործողությունները, որը կդառնար Ադրբեջանի փլուզման սկիզբը:
