Re: Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
This guy makes many valid points, but I strongly disagree with him on several fronts. First he claims that the beginning of the Azeri hostilities on April 2 was not a planned large scale assault, that utilized tank echelons moving toward the line of contact. Is he serious? If this was the case then how did we manage to destroy 26 enemy tanks (not sure of the exact figure)? How is an attack that utilizes artillery, infantry, tanks, helicopters, Smersh systems, flame throwers, etc. in various points on the line of contact, not a large scale assault? The second area I disagree with him is when he states that in the event that one is not able to serve in the reserves, they must pay taxes. He states that even disabled people shouldn't be exempt from these taxes. We all know that people with disabilities in Armenia have various disadvantages both in terms of accessing public facilities and finding jobs (just to name a few areas). Also many disabled people are disabled because of the war. How can we force such people to pay taxes to the military, when they are already at a handicap? A better option would be to provide them with jobs and tax their income. Just my personal opinion.
