Re: Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
Joseph,
I think this issue with Azerbaijan arming is becoming obsessive in so much that is blanketing lots of important issues.
In a sort of way aliev's arms binge is not only spinning Azeri heads but also takes away our attention annesessarily too.
Without denial we should concentrate on defeating this advantage quickly. The 4day battle showed that it is not easy for Azeris to effectively influence an outcome of war.
If we stand to use the experience and right preparations, it will be much harder for Baku to achieve any results.
I liked Samvel Babayan's umbrella concept.
More or less our military has modernized the use of post ww2 artillery behind imagination. Farther push and we will create situation that any arms quantity imbalance cannot have desired bearing on war.
For example, in 2006 Lebanon war clearly hezbollah was affective against tanks, but could not defend against Israeli artillery.
I remember a clip with narration where hezbollah fired from rocket launcher and soldiers run away even as rockets were still launching. About 15-20 seconds later Israeli shells destroyed the launcher completely.
That's how much it takes for Israelis to pinpoint and destroy enemy installation.
It's all electronics and very possible to produce.
Do we have anything like it in works?
