Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Instead of tank a fast moving rover with a fiew accurate guided rockets can do a lot of harm.

You also shouldn't dismiss the fact that many tanks have built very effective counter-measures to ATGM systems. The lethality of ATGMs is often exaggerated, mainly because we have only seen it in action against archaic Soviet and Eastern block tanks. (Lebanon being an exception - It is generally agreed it wasn't the ATGMs that did the trick, but it was Hezbollah's tactics in a mountainous environment. Even in Lebanon many of the tanks destroyed were older Merkava variants)

I don't see how artillery and MLRS make armored vehicles obsolete. Many of those systems are actually not made to be used against concentrations of armor (Like the TOS-1A). Many are made to be used against troop concentrations and staging areas. If you argue that accurate artillery and deadly MLRS systems make armored vehicles obsolete, you should probably also argue that it makes the concept of infantry obsolete.

The tanks role has changed since WW1. It hasn't been a system to support infantry in a very long time. It is the now the leader of major ground operations and a spearhead. It is also an invaluable asset on the battlefield. Its role is actually only become more important, I doubt it will be sidelined because of ATGMs or even considered obsolete anytime soon
Jesus, thanks for the insults right off the bat. Appreciate that.

That's precisely why I used "somewhat". More sophisticated and therefore cost prohibitive tanks, etc will eventually have to be produced. Already the production of main battle tanks is in decline, at least for the United States.

It will be very tough for tanks to penetrate through groups of ATGM launchers.
Correct tactics should be used. A good example of incorrect usage of tanks is Syria.

For countries with smaller defense budget the ATGM launchers will make most tank models a rotisserie oven.
Countries with lager budget will make all tanks a rotisserie oven from miles away.
I would rather die from shrapnel and bullets, have the option to take cover jumping out of 4x4 than die in a guarantied slow moving oven.
If the objective is to move all that steel and protective armor to protect an artillery ... better go with an open system

"Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry announced that the Special Forces of Azerbaijan take part in joint multinational exercises in Turkey.
The joint multinational training of Special Forces will run in Turkey from June 6 to 12, the ministry reported. Besides the representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the servicemen of Bulgaria, Georgia and Turkey are also involved in the exercises.
On June 2, Armed Forces of Turkey and Azerbaijan, in accordance with the agreement on military cooperation between the two countries, held their joint exercises in the city of Kars.

Special Forces of Azerbaijan take part in joint multinational exercises in Turkey, the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of defense told Trend.

Maybe their next exercise should be in julfa to keep the historic team going?

9M55K1 munition of Smersh sistem can destroy any tank. They are now producing similar artillery rounds that can be fired over tank column and self guide and destroy.

Tanks are running their last pages. Even ATGMs are becoming like a change in the militaries hands. Next generation of fast mobile rocket loucher vehicle that releases self guiding tank killers is on the way.

This is good but only one type. Those use laser guided missiles.

But there are also munitions that fire from 20-40 km away and release pack of parachuted munitions which seek and destroy armor as they descend down.
Can you imagine releasing just 3-5 missiles that in turn release 20-30 submunitions like those over a tank column?
That's it the battle is over before tanks get to front.
That is why some of us are holding our breath as to when Russia is going to supply us those. If we get those, Azeris can never claim up our mountains.
Even Turkish threat will be somehow very diminished. Of course paired with impenetrateble mutual air Defence.
