Baku, Tbilisi and Ankara to sign memorandum on defence cooperation

Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria met his Turkish counterpart Fikri Işık in Brussels yesterday.

At the meeting the sides agreed to sign a trilateral memorandum of cooperation in the field of defense among Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

According to the ministers, the trilateral cooperation will contribute to the strengthening of security in the region.

The Defense Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will sign the memorandum in May this year at a meeting in Tbilisi, AzerTAc cited the Georgian Ministry of Defense as saying.

Why aren't ZU-23 AA guns added our front line positions?
These guns have played a big role in Syria.
The 23mm can pierce a BMP and even some tanks.
The weapon is cheap, abundant and easy to operate.

You mean "Ankara" as in the mighty, advanced, refined, powerful, turkish military for over (3) months is still trying to take over a dusty town in the desert of Syria (al bab) held by idiots in PJs and AKs? The more these (3) idiots will play their games, the more we will get free armaments from Russia.

The US is building a new military base in Georgia - a provocation for Russia. This was the end of the Georgian Defense Minister and the US Chief of Staff at the US military base in Hohenfels, Germany. RT German spoke with analysts who warned that the Caucasus would become a powder barrel with irreparable consequences.

The Ministry of Defense of Georgia confirmed that Defense Minister Levan Izoria and Chief of Staff Vladimir Chachibaya were visiting Germany on 11 February. The high-ranking officials from Georgia visited the seventh US military training base of the US European Command in Hohenfels, Bavaria. There was also a meeting with the commanding General of the US Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, and the chairman of the US Command for Military Training, Brigadier General Antonio Augusto .

The US discussed the state of defense of the South Caucasus with the Georgians and agreed with them to strengthen them. The Georgian Defense Minister said it was a "historic day" for the Caucasian Republic. This was mainly because the US had discussed with Georgia for the first time details about the establishment of a standby center similar to the US military base in Hohenfels, which is to be in Georgia. Its mission is to "train Georgian soldiers and expand the preparedness level of Georgian forces through international support," said the Georgian minister to the popular Georgian news portal Agenda.

RT German asked the Georgian Embassy on Tuesday for an opinion. There was no official answer. In a telephone conversation with RT German, Georgian press attaché to Berlin confirmed only existing media reports and referred to the military attaché for further questions, which, however, is currently not available.

US General Hodges praised the Georgian soldiers who are currently being trained by the US Army in the German Hohenfels. He was "impressed by the courage and level of their readiness". Hodges positively assessed the new defense reforms in Georgia with regard to the increased cooperation with the USA and commented:

As usual stupid move from Georgians that is going to hurt them even more in the near future. Next move? Lavrov will be headed to Cuba.

Georgians may be putting themselfs on confrontation with Russia, but a strong US base there is very much in our advantage.
Existence of the base does not really increase danger of war more than what we got with azerbaijan now. But it will bring a balancing check to two sided control in Caucasus, Russia and Turks. If turkey really worsens relations with NATO however unlikely, (but who knows, crazy er dog an), then Turks may cook up something with Russia that is bad for us.
They should not be left as sole military influences in Caucasus.

For the past 11 years I have lived in Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, with my wife and two children. On April 2nd, 2016, the military conflict that brought the republic to life started again. On that same day, I was drafted as a private into the Karabakh Defence Army and placed at the most distant border outpost.

On that day I “died”: died as a person, as a photographer, as a citizen...I accepted the thought that I wouldn’t exist in this world anymore. I turned into a tiny spot…next to nothing. I hardly thought about home in the beginning; I almost forgot about it. It was the only way not to go insane. I had to defend this outpost and survive. Period. And then I found the way out of this inhuman situation, maybe the only way: I started to live for the sake of my younger brothers-in-arms, the 18-year-old conscripts. This is the point where I regained myself…the small spot that I had become started to grow.

I had no choice between the rifle and my camera — it was my duty to hold the Kalashnikov. Yet still I took photos. These images tell the tale of my journey, from photographer to combatant and back to photographer again.
