Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Normalized Relations between Türkler ve Ermeniler.

Hypothetically, assuming if there are normalized relations between Turks and Ermeniler. Wouldn't the economic imbalance not be in Armenia's favor?

I mean, the opening of the border would be great for Armenia's economy. But how would the Armenian government go about preventing Turkish investors from outright buying out a chunk of the Armenian economy?

Sure you guys want a prosperous Armenia, but you wouldn't want Turks to own a single thing in Armenia. Imagine a whole chunk owned by Turks - a nightmare for you guys.

Likewise, we wouldn't want you to own a single thing in Türkiye. Up until recently, the Turkish government didn't allow foreigners to buy property in Türkiye. Since the government uplifted that ban, it's been allowed (hopefully it will be reversed.)

How would the Armenian government go about in blocking the Turks from aquiring any property in Armenia? It seems that option might not be possible and theonly thing that could be done is to make the process heavily beauracratic for Turks to acquire any property in Armenia.

There are many waays to prevent that, things like Colbertisme and protectionism come to my mind, so we can have limited trade with the Turks and decide what we import and what not.

Who says when the border opens there will be free trade between the two nations.

I doubt the borders will be opened anytime soon, and if they are it will most likely be the Kars-Gyumri railway.

Also, Armenia could pass laws to limit what nations can own what industries.

Either way this is a dead topic because the border will not be opened due to the preconditions that the turkish regime puts forth.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Something similar to that has already been done, albeit by us Turks in Cyprus. Check it out:

Check it out on google maps: Giant Northern Cypriot Flag

I'm wondering when we'll get around to putting one up on Mt. Ararat. Maybe the North Eastern side - you know, the side that faces Yerevan. It would be great for Yerevanis to have a Giant Turkish Flag glowing at night for them to enjoy as they stroll the streets of Yerevan at night. We'll let them enjoy it for free - we'll pay the electric bill - you know electricity that is so abundant in Türkiye.

South Koreans love us. Algerians love us.

During the Korean War, we were one of the largest troop presence in South Korea in the U.N. coaltion that helped save South Korea from the commies. As a result, the South Koreans, setup a tribute in Türkiye to thank us for our efforts and sacrifices.

Not only the Algerians, but almost all of the North African Arab states love us Turks. All the way from Egypt to Morroco - anywhere along the North African Coast that once was occupied by the Ottomans.

The Chechens love us; alot of fighters fighting alongside them are Turkish.

The Pakis look up to us - they wish if we could go back to the says of Caliphate and let the Turks lead the Muslim world.

The Syrians love us - the government might not, but the Syrians love us. You should talk to alot of the Muslim scholars in Damascus - the ones who truly represent the Syrian people. It's constantly on their tongues that the Turks are the sleeping saviors of the Muslim world.

The only Arabs that have animosity against us are the Saudi Wahhabi Arabs.

A substantial amount of Armenians living in Türkiye for generations genuinely love Türkiye and its people: Türkler.

I remember meeting a Romanian that lived in Türkiye for a while, he greatly sympathized with Türkiye on many things and I remember when we departed he said "God Bless Turkey!"

The Ottoman Empire accepted many persecuted xxxs from Europe who became prosperous and integrated into Turkish society.

If you want to view things from a purely nation state spectrum in context of the immediate history and immediate reigion, then I guess your points are arguable, but when it comes to universal credibility and trust earned over the centuries amongst the a broader communities that profited from the Turks, I think your arguments would be dwarfed and flimsy.

Save for the Diaspora, to whom, where, when and how have the Armenians been able to reach out to and have an impact that advertised them as a great people for everyone to look up to? The Ancient Romans and the Greeks still have this effect for the western world. The Soviets had it for a brief period of the 20th century and it really wasn't sincerely received.

The Turks had it for a long time and still have it. And we'll get it stronger again.
