  • Families under Pressure

Arsen, 11, and his brother Andranik, 12, used to go to Yerevan from Parakar to beg for money to save their family from hunger. They had not been to school for two years because their single-mother Narineh could hardly provide food for her four sons and could not afford other expenses.

I read their story and it moved me... I came across to such stories' Turkish versions many times... but i just did not know how to help people but later i found out a website where all information were provided about the needy people. And their bank account numbers given for donation from whomever interested... As far as i know the organization that carries out the works for those stuff is legal so i trusted them and i try to help people by transferring money as much as i can...

you people could make such an organization to help the needy of the Armenia too... You can make a website and give the link to every Armenian websites to attract people's attention, so that the ones who want to help can find information on how to reach them...

if you want to have a look at the website ive been talking about here is the link (although u may not understand the language) just have a look or something...

Shouldnt we look at what the cause of the problems are?

We shouldnt look to charity to help us, but we should take the initiative to help ourselves.

Can anyone say which condiditons allow this sort of poverty to be maintained? Who are the culprits? What should be changed?

Certainly these issues must be looked into and sorted out... But the process might take too long that those families will have to suffer...

Is the culprit not the system?

Yeah, most of the time. But sometimes there are poor people nevertheless...

yes, but poor people are a bi-product of the system we call capitalism, if we dont want any more poor people in armenia, we must remove capitalism

how could we overturn it? Or what do we replace it with?

We overturn it quite simply, by having a general strike, and with it protest. If bourgeoise doesnt give up, then we must turn to unfortunnate situation of conflict against those who oppose justice and freedom.

what do we replace it with? With a genuine workers deemocracy, where only the people have power, none to the undemocratic bourgeoise. Who can serve the people better? the people? or self serving capitalists and their puppets?
