Re: Monte Melkonian
I have Edmond jan, its an amazing book and I recommend it, in addition its great to read your posts again my friend, missed your comments and chatting with youOriginally posted by Eddo211 View PostI have feeling that it wasn’t because they didn’t care Pedro jan but they were……..in their way somehow protecting their kids from the sad and ugly reality and wishing them a normal life.
Regardless, this proves my point that the further we become separated from our roots…………the stronger the pull back factor.
Monte is a good example of assimilated Armenian that didn’t even know how to answer his teachers when asked about where he is really from and couldn’t even speak Armenian until he was in his 20s……………..all the way up to commanding a liberating force of 4000 men.
I like to get that book, have you read it Pedro?
, and hunting for the Pan Turkists (remember our Pravda battle lol).
I see your point Edmond jan, and once again, Monte was an amazing hero and a rolemodel to any human being

Re: Monte Melkonian
You are right Eddo jan.Originally posted by Eddo211 View PostAs far as I know guys, Monte got a job to teach English in Tehran after his graduation in 1978 from Berkley University. He found himself in the middle of a revolution in Iran and joined in the demonstrations to overthrow the Shah. He ended up in that famous square in Tehran where it all kick started.
He joined ASALA in 1980 in Lebanon. I suggest you read the link Federate has provided.
Monte didn't participate in the revolution for Shah's behalf but quite the contrary.

Re: Monte Melkonian
Yes the Shah was very much with the west (both Europeans and the US) as he was the friend of the west. I don't know about CIA involvement in Monte's actions though. However about Dashnagtsoutyun's involvement in helping Shah's father, it's a fact. I don't know if Monte went on Dashnagtsoutyun's behalf or the US' or the CIA's behalf to Iran in 1979. We may probably know that part of the history when we get hold of Monte's brother's book.Originally posted by KanadaHye View PostThe Shah was put there for the west against Iranian interests... I assume there was CIA involvement in his actions.

Re: Monte Melkonian
This has a lot to do with many of us realizing that a part of our lives and who we are were taken away from us growing up. When you come to this realization, you instantly start connecting the dots.Originally posted by Eddo211 View PostI have feeling that it wasn’t because they didn’t care Pedro jan but they were……..in their way somehow protecting their kids from the sad and ugly reality and wishing them a normal life.
