Yes, I remember reading that article as well. Another point that stuck out for me was that they watched arabic tv and listen to arabic music. Also, some said they'd want to return to Iraq if it clamed down there.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

      The Danger of Syrian Situation

The Syrian opposition that the West wants to replace Assad is dangerous for Armenians. They are Turkish pawns, with their headquarters in Turkey, and their army supported and based in Turkey. A Syria led by this opposition may very well become a Turkish pawn, not to mention the fact of Sunni connection between the two. It should be evident that Assad is someone we need to hope stays in powers, our allies also stand by him (Iran and Russia).

Turkey right now is playing a very dangerous game in the region, it's already backfiring and will create more enemies for Turkey in the future. Now that Russia and China vetoed the UNSC, it is getting really dangerous for Turkey. Because everything it is doing is against Chinese and Russian interests.

and against Iranian interests. The more Turkey alleniates itself with Russia/Iran the better for us. It's already sour with Israel and EU, so let's hope this backfires more for them, so they are isolated more.

            Here is an nice article:

Another threat against Turkey from Iran

            February 06, 2012 | 14:53

Iranian Major General Hossein Salami voiced threats against Ankara.

Salami told Fars haber agency that the countries, territories of which are used by the enemies of Iran, would be attacked, Turkish Milliyet reports.

Turkish press considers this statement as a threat agaisnt Ankara, because the troops of U.S. and NATO are located in Turkey.
Turkey right now thinks it is ready to play with the big boys again, hope they will be smacked down really soon.

Syria is an important nation geostrategically and the Turk does not want Iraqi oil to reach the Mediterranean via Syria. Assad is now facing a foreign backed rebelion by Sunni Islamists. Which is why the Christians in Syria support Assad. As they worry that the Islamists will turn Syria into another Iraq.

Another testament to the fact that Sunnis often are against our interests. It seems Shia's have treated Christians better.

Re: The Danger of Syrian Situation

What do you guys think of Assad's violent crackdown? I think it’s hard to deny that he is committing human rights violations, though the severity of which might be exaggerated. Do you genuinely support his actions, or is he simply a necessary evil, that is a preferred option over the western pro Turkish puppets who will likely destroy the Armenian community?

Erm, it is not Turkey or the Islamists who will turn Syria into another Iraq, it is AMERICA that will turn it into another Iraq. Which is why, once it starts, most Armenians will immediately shut up about it - just like they did over Iraq, even though America was responsible for initiating what amounted to the genocide of Iraq's Armenian population.

Genocide of Armenians? Can you provide some sources?
