Re: Myth of Khojaly "Massacre"
Get a load of this:
Why the hell don't we do anything for the maraghar massacre?? an actual massacre.... if Azeris can turn a fabricated event into something compared to Holocaust....Posters reflecting information about the Khojaly genocide have been set in central streets of New York.
The posters were hung in 4,000 different spots, bus stations, on buses, underground station, strains as well as central streets of the city, Gun.Az reported.
The posters include the number of killed persons during the genocide.
Beginning from 23 November, the Azerbaijani-American Alliance have begun to raise awareness of New York and Washington citizens about the crime committed against Azerbaijanis by street, poster and other actions and means.

Re: Myth of Khojaly "Massacre"
How the hell does the Khojaly Event get mentioned on front page of wikipedia?? This is disgraceful, be on a lookout for media coverage on Khojaly and please post anything you find that is noteworthy.

Re: Myth of Khojaly "Massacre"
It's a fabrication and set up by Azerbaijan out of desperation, to make a propaganda piece against us, but also it was crucial in getting Aliyev's coup. It was a political ploy.

Re: Myth of Khojaly "Massacre"
azeris claim khojaly was just a regular city with innocent civilians and they were killed in retaliation for Sumgait pogroms. In reality the city was being used to bombard Stepanakert and other cities. Armenia announced they would be attacking the city and would leave a corridor open for the civilians to leave, this was acknowledged by then president Mutalibov and other govt officials. Armenian soldiers, involved with the attack, said they had the city surrounded so how were the bodies found outside of khojaly? That is what is frustrating that they cant explain that and they dont mention the above when crying about this so called Armenian committed massacre. Then if you look at that girl who wrote the letter, how is she still alive? Her mother was 9 months pregnant with her so how was she able to run away from the Armenian soldiers if they wanted to kill everyone in the city? By releasing that letter they basically proved Armenia right. They also can't explain why the bodies were mutilated while under azeri control.

If I was the commander during the war, I would have been more heavy handed. These animals breed and multiply like mice. And obviously, they are a perfect propaganda tool. They will teach their children the same propaganda and those children may be sent to attack Artsakh with "martyr" like thinking.Originally posted by Armanen View PostI agree, and someones I wonder whether or not it would have been better for Armenians to have killed more Azeri civilians who now live like animals in make shift shelters, and which the azeri regime uses as a tool to keep the hatred of Armenians alive.
Don't forget what Azeris did during the early 1900s against Armenians. They only understand brute force and violence - it's part of their Turkic or Mongolic identity - think Genghis Khan. Showing compassion to them, they will just use the opportunity to stab you in the back later on. We can't be naive. We need to learn from our past.

Khojaly was a strategic point near an airport, and it was justified to take control of it even with the collateral damage. Azeri side depicts that we went deliberately and massacred innocent civilians which is biased garbage. They fail to look at themselves and how they were responsible for the deaths of their own civilians. Azeris needed such a fabricated event in order to justify a coup in their country - and they got it.
What is deliberate killing is the Grad attacks on Stepanakert, specifically targeting civilian houses and obviously the pogroms in Baku. If we had wanted to do deliberate civilian killings we would have just purified Karabakh and the buffer zone of any Azeris from the start. There would be no Azeri "refugee problem" and probably Azeris would shut their mouth and agree to full independence.

So according to the Azeri side what happened at Khojali was a genocide. First one has to wonder what genocide is, genocide is according to wikipedia "Genocide is defined as "the deliberate and systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group". Now the question one must ask themselves did the Armenians attack the village to kill the Azeris there?
When we look at the importance of the village and the way it was used we can see that this can not be the case. Khojali was used to attack other urban areas in Artsakh. One must not forget that distinction, because not taking Khojali would have meant that Azeri military could have continued the bombing of urban areas and more Armenians would have died.
When you have an area of such a high military and strategic value one must wonder could the Armenian side have ignored this area? The answer is no, every day that the attack would have been postponed more Armenians would have been killed by shelling.
Did Azeri population die during the attack? I guess so. However one can not forget that we were fighting a war here and war brings out the worst side of people. Did any Azerbaijani get killed because of their nationality or ethnicity, I don't think so. Were there collateral damage? Yes there was.
