I voted no. What kind of relationship do the these countries have with Turks? Who are these people? More turks? The history of attacks we have suffered in the last thousand years came from which groups? No/ Artashes

And I forgot to ask: Who do a large percentage of these people identify with? Turks? or Armenians? NO/Artashes

....unless Russia wishes to lose the North Caucasus, it can NOT lose Armenia to another power.

and I hope the Armenian leaders are using this "Ace in the hole" to its last drop........to better Armenia's independance and sovereignty.


btw guys, I thought President Sarkisian wants a EU "Junior" membership.

I voted no on the pole......look who we dealing with if we were to join.....are we to help them when they wouldn't lift a finger to help us?

Well EU has many flaws, no doubt about that. If EurU is just an economic union, with no political implications like that of the EU, I would support us joining it, but I still would want us to have diverse economic relations with other states as well. Our security relations are based in CSTO and other military agreements with Russia. I doubt this union would do much on the security end.

If all CSTO nations were members then the EurU could do what the EU has failed to do, have a military. But I do not think it would work that way. Just as the West has EU and NATO, Russia will wish to keep CSTO and EurU separate.

Being a member of the EurU does not imply Armenia will not have close ties with other nations. As Putin outlined the EurU, it is more economic than political. Obviously it will lead to a more political direction but again, it will be based out of Moscow, not some random European capital as is the case with the EU. Moreover, everyone will know that Moscow calls the shots, where as in the EU they pretend it is Brussels but really it is Berlin, and Paris to a lesser extent.

Ideally I would not want Armenia to join any unions, but since our embattled and resource-less nation is surrounded by hostile powers, it is in our interest to align with a strong nation like Russia. I really believe that the EurU would also ease the choke-hold the Armenian oligarchs have over the economic life of Armenia.

I want of course close strategic partnership with Russia, but when it comes to economy I want a more diverse amount of relations, with CIS, Iran, and EU. Our President right now is in Brussels meeting with EU officials and we may soon sign free trade agreement with EU which will be a good boost to us.

If it is like the EU no unless everyone else joins and leaves us no choice!

You know why? Look at Greece!

What kind of union is this when a little bit of trouble they push you to one side? The same people who turned a blind eye to us! Typical euro trash! Now we are going to join who? Unless everyone is in a block then no, if everyone else is joining sides we have no choice.

I don't know, if it is good business why not? Does this mean loss of control or does this mean union of interested parties?
