I want of course close strategic partnership with Russia, but when it comes to economy I want a more diverse amount of relations, with CIS, Iran, and EU. Our President right now is in Brussels meeting with EU officials and we may soon sign free trade agreement with EU which will be a good boost to us.

There are powerful oligarchs in the EU as well, the largest of which are the technocrats who work in Brussels. My point is that Armenian businessmen would have an ocean to work in instead of a pond. As for as Russia calling more of the shots, you do realize that they already do right? But as you can see, they give Armenia a lot of leeway and they are not going to let either Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, or the West take Armenia away from them. Again, unless Russia wishes to lose the North Caucasus, it can NOT lose Armenia to another power.

Well yes, there are powerful people everywhere, though I would still like to see a less oligarch controlled economy in Armenia. Russia does call many of the shots, but if you are in a political union, the amount of leeway they give will be smaller. Of course, I see this positively for our security as Russia will be more tied to our security in the region, so for the long term it may be better. I just don't want the cost of that to be Armenia going back to Armenia SSR.

Well by loss of political sovereignty that could come with Russia calling more of the shots, possibly our national currency being replaced, and so forth. I'm on the fence on this one, I want close relations with Russia and CSTO, but I'm not too keen on joining political unions. I don't know how much of the oligarch power would be reduced with such a union. There are powerful oligarchs in Russia also.

That map was produced by a biased org. And it doesn't even mention Armenia as a strong candidate country.

I think Armenian officials should carefully consider the positives and negatives of joining then union carefully. I tend to lean more on the joining side because I think Armenia's market is limited, whereas the EurU would offer a much larger one for our businessmen to conduct trade, investment, and other facets of business. Moreover, I think this would lesson the suffocating style that some of our oligarchs have brought to Armenia over the past 20 years, which in turn would help small to medium sized business prosper without having to bend to the will of the well connected and large businessmen.

What is your opinion on a possible Eurasian Union - an idea started by Putin. Such a Union would include countries like Belarus, Kazakhstan, possibly Tajikistan also. Would joining a union benefit our country or is the loss of sovereignty not worth it? Keep in mind we wouldn't border this union.
