^Not sure I agree, the people in the streets are a minority. The majority of people I talk to in armenia over the last week have said they don't condone the actions this group has taken nor the protestors using this as an opportunity to push their agendas.

You said they don't condone this actions? But do you ask anybody if they support Serjiks government? Are they happy from Serjiks presidency of 8 years?
This actions are just the iceberg of what is really happening or what the public sentiment is.
Sasna tsrer's actions have nothing to do with Serjiks approval and he must go for his actions. For robbing and ruining the country with his cohorts. For diminishing Defences and for creating a sort of oligarchic junta.
While using Artsakh and blockade as excuses his click has robbed Armenia of 4-6 billion dollars, that would rebuild Gumry, end economic slump and arm our country enough.
Instead of Serjiks brother purchasing that 600 mln building in downtown Los Angeles and our country begging 200 mln from Russians, our people could buy necessary arms by our money.

I'm not necessarily arguing with you, I just feel this should have been done differently and not through violence. It stains our country's modern history.

All means have been tried the courts and every other legal institution is being firmly monopolized under a repressive regime what will save further bloodshed is many more people going to protest like the late 80's in the artsakh movement plus getting the attention of international community on armenia

Don't know who you talked to. But 99% of people I talk to use "Nersum mer Dgherk/Our boys inside", and "Pozi Dgherks/MF" outside.......
The day this individual will join his 72 virgins, 99% of Armenia will be dancing.

I just feel instead of 30 people, a 2-3000 should have stormed that building and several others, because there is no other way to get rid of parasite government except this way.
One has to look at what the parasites are ready to do to stay in power. We see only police acting because the government wants to keep a shroud of legitimacy. But in case the police wil not kill for government, then private armies of oligarkhs will come out and just wipe out anybody they can.
People like Samo, Gago, Manvel and others will bring up many hundreds or thousands of paid mercenaries and just choke any popular democratic movement or hope of it in blood.
And they will.
There have been all the criticisms and protests for corruption there can be. Even from very reputable international forums and publications, but our government never reflects them. Not even for a show of sensitivity to public.
Like a honey badger ravishing a bee nest not paying attention to bee stings, driven by glutinous hunger. This government click is so deep into tapping our national livelihood and knows it's a matter of survival. If stopped they will perish as thugs incapable of living any other way.
Therefore it's either them to be able to live like this or nothing at all.
People think there was a small break in corrupt government at time of Artsakh war. But in reality they just transformed from soviet system of corruption to modern. Without stop. Even at the time of worst war crisis they never stopped sucking the nation. They won't stop in next war too. This alarm, of new war and losses gives them only better smoke screen. But fiew people see the maggots on nation as they are and can't take it anymore.

I see a lot of people sharing this post and it seems to really reaffirm a lot of their views that the Armenian government is run horrendously by some incompetent treasonous Turks. Before I explain why everything is wrong with the numbers provided, let me first say that it's really sad to see the state that CivilNet has ended up in.

When it started, a lot of us had hopes that there would finally be an independent Armenian news source whose purpose was to report the facts and not advance the views of whatever foreigner was funding it. Not pro Russian, Not pro EU, but pro Armenian. This was especially important seeing as how Lragir, ArmeniaNow, and Eurasianet, among others, are fully funded by George Soros, while Radio Liberty, Hetq, and most of the rest get their funding from some combination of George Soros, US Aid, US State Department, and similar organizations. Of course the problem with that is these organizations use these sources to push whatever version of Armenia they want to see: Usually one that is more open to Turkey so Armenia can be turned away from Russia, one with much more liberal values than what is the norm in Armenian society (not my opinion, just a fact), and one that is more open to conceding territories to end the Karabakh conflict and lessen Russia's role in the region. And if there needs to be a bloody revolution for all this to take place, let it be, because it's not their countrymen who will be dying and its not their country being destroyed. Of course that is the reason the words Armenian Genocide are banned from Eurasianet and Radio Liberty, to ease relations between the two countries. But now CivilNet unfortunately, has turned into the most unprofessional of these organizations, and that's saying quite a lot.

Anyway, economic data as measured by the International Monetary Fund, is measured based on the local national currency. Meaning since the start of the Serzh Sargsyan administration GDP has grown by 17% in AMD. Since the start of the Sargsyan administration, GDP, GDP per capita, and minimum wage have all increased significantly. This is the methodology used by the World Bank, IMF, and every other international financial institution. If we were going to take this ridiculous methodology and calculate economies by the US dollar, you would see massive double digit fluctuation in GDP in every country, every year, and economic data would be useless. By comparison, using dollars the Georgian economy has declined by some 40 percent in the past two years and everyone in the Georgian govt should be fired right now- and really executed for treason, seeing the support in CivilNet for the actions in Erebuni. By the same methodology, the Azerbaijani economy has shrank some 55 percent over the past two years. The fact that ArmStat is cited as the source is especially shocking seeing as how ArmStat doesn't report in dollars. So CivilNet decided to take the data in Dram, use two arbitrary exchange rates, and present the numbers in the way best suited to match its views. Because if you use a constant exchange rate from the Dram, in dollars you would still get a 17 percent growth in the Armenian Economy. (It is interesting that the presidents salary is stated in AMD while the rest was reported in USD). Moreover I'd like state that the Armenian currency was the strongest in the entire former Soviet Union in 2015, and has actually gained on the dollar in 2016.

As far as territories conceded. Since 2008 Armenia has actually gained over two hundred square kilometers (close to 250 sq km). The fact that the territorial change is listed by just the eight km lost in April shows the level of unprofessionalism at CivilNet. Because this fact would without a doubt have been known to the people of CivilNet and as a matter of advancing their twisted political agenda they have chosen to present what they know to be false because they knew it would be accepted by the average person. (If anyone wants sources to the territorial gains I’ll gladly provide it) Armenia has gained that 250 sq km in Nakhichevan, Mrav Mountains, Fizuli, and Oman Pass.

The State Debt ratio. Armenia’s state debt grew rapidly from 2008 to 2010 when it reached over 50 percent as Armenia dealt with the global recession. It then steadily declined to about 35 percent in 2014. It has since risen again because Armenia borrowed to stabilize the dram. However, all of this borrowed money, about seven hundred million dollars, sits in Armenia’s foreign exchange reserve and hasn’t actually been spent and Armenia’s foreign exchange reserves continue to grow naturally thanks to the stability of Armenia’s currency. So that money can be given back this instant if Armenia chose to do so. More than that, the debt ratio has simply grown because the money borrowed has been in dollars or Euros, and if you measure GDP in dollars, the GDP has shrank due currency devaluation. Much of the remaining borrowing has been for the groundbreaking 1.5 billion dollar North-South highway construction connecting the Georgian Border to the Iranian one. Nothing of this scale was attempted in Armenia before, I think once you get passed the shock value of this ridiculous graphic, you wouldn’t be surprised that a country would need to borrow to construct something that costs 50 percent of its annual state budget.

Of course all of this doesn’t take into the account the complex factors involved in a recession that go back to decades of policy making, the fact that Armenia's growth in the 2000's was fueled by construction, and the much deeper layer that as a small developing country you have very little to say when massive global banks fail and the global economic trends that occur. But again, such facts don’t make for very interesting graphics.

As far as the migration numbers, if anyone can provide data showing those numbers to be true I would be very thankful. Seeing as how the ArmStat data was falsified, I’m assuming the same is true of those numbers. I have never seen numbers of those scale and have no reason to believe they represent anything close to the reality of the situation. And no what you heard from a taxi driver doesn't equal a verifiable source. If the projections people have provided were true the population of Armenia would be 0 ten years ago.
