You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Turkey has not attacked precisely because those are Russian troops and it does not want war with Russia. This kind of stupidity shows exactly why people like Vrej are davatchans because they are willing to put the country in great danger without consideration for its people. The dashnaks did this same thing and we got the genocide to show for it..have we not learned from our mistakes? Armenia has a hard time guarding her eastern border which is under constant attack and the implication here that 5k Armenian troops is all it would take to guard the western border since that is all the Russians are using anyways is just stupid. I really do not think Vrej is this stupid but he is hoping people reading his posts are stupid. I think Vrej is simply one of many spies implanted into media sources like this to stir up antirussian propaganda. He could be working for the CIA, MI8, MOSSAD, or very likely one of the Turkish intelligence organizations whose mission is to drive Russia out of Armenia so then we really will get to see how many Armenians it takes to guard the western boarder. It is impossible for so much stupidity to exist in one man and for that one man to still be alive therefore it is fair to conclude that this man is not stupid but is a spy. A spy for who, would be interesting to find out.
You are too clever to waste more than a minute with you.....
Anyway, just reed back what I said, and not put words in my mouth I did not said.

Here are stated the basic technical problems related to the base, and the mythical deterrence it provides.
The biggest danger is the myth of russian protection it provides, in our popular psyche, that does in no way correspond to realities.
That point is the exact cause of our all failiures. No one, apart ourselves, will ensure our security.
Relying on a non existing shield is the worst, we can do.....
Not a single russian soldier did sacrifice his life, in name of Armenia since Pioter's day, not more than any french in Marach or Brit in Baku....
They all did for their state, and it is only normal. As it is normal, that we, ourselves, are the only lasting guarantor of our security, in real life.
Of course, the modern, geopolitical deterrence is mainly political/diplomatic, and certainly not 100 % russian, us, iranian, or chineese.....
That is an other matter, that certainly deserves debate.
For that, we need to call a cat a cat.

If we shall still rely on the 102 base military factor, as I personally do think we should, we must make sure it is at least minimally credible, as a military force....
But yet, a foreign base itself, does in no way mean border control of a given state by the other.... I do not know if other examples do exist elsewhere.
I would be very surprised, if a tourist flying to Minsk airport, was controlled by an official russian FSB agent....., as it is in Zvartnotz....

Slave mentality, with a perpetual Amen for every russian betrayal or disregard to our vital interests, is the best guarantee we shell be served the same dish again, and again.....

Well said....however I agree with Haykakan as far as Russians on the border. It is not the question of security so much as politics. Turks kill one Russian soldier there be hell to pay. Turkey depends on Russia for its energy. Russia cuts that and Turkish war machine will slow to a stop.

Russian Senator Slams Pro-EU NGOs in Armenia

A senior member of the Russian legislature has reminded Armenia of the Ukrainian experience, stressing that having a large number of non-governmental organizations advocating integration with the European Union is “unacceptable”.

At a press conference in Moscow on Thursday, Konstantin Kosachev, who heads the International Affairs Committee at the Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, at the same time expressed a hope that Armenia will “manage to avoid Ukraine’s experience of facing a choice” between Eurasian and European integrations.

Two years ago Armenia was on track to sign an association agreement with the European Union as part of the Eastern Partnership Program that also involved Ukraine and four other former Soviet nations. But in September 2013 under apparent pressure from Moscow authorities in Yerevan made a U-turn opting instead for integration with the Russian-led customs union.

Ukraine persisted with its European integration policy, ousting President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014, but Russia responded by annexing its southernmost peninsula of Crimea and later also backed separatist movements in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk, which led to deadly hostilities between Ukraine’s government forces and pro-Russian rebels.

The Russian senator, however, insisted that it is the “either-or” demands of the EU that cripple countries like Ukraine.

“The position of ‘either you are with us or with them’ has already destroyed or almost destroyed Ukraine and could destroy any other country if the question is raised consistently and in a straightforward manner,” said Kosachev, stressing that having 350 NGOs “working against Eurasian integration and in favor of Armenia’s closer ties with the European Union is unacceptable”.

Remarkably, speaking about Russia-Azerbaijan relations, Kosachev said that in the Caucasus region Azerbaijan is Moscow’s “most important economic and political partner”, while Armenia, which joined the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union this year, according to the Russian senator, is Moscow’s “closest” partner.

Kosachev expressed his gratitude to Baku for its “very caring attitude” towards the Russian language and ethnic Russians who live in Azerbaijan.

“Of course, Azerbaijan has other partners and its palette of choices is much broader than that of Armenia and Georgia, but I see no insurmountable obstacle for the successful development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations,” said Kosachev, as quoted by Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency.

At the press conference the Russian senator also spoke about Russo-Georgian relations. He said that seeing how the Russia-Azerbaijan and Russia-Armenia relations are developing, Georgia begins to understand that by moving away from Russia it “misses out on benefits and opportunities”.

            My Dear,
There are errors in your statements.
1- Turkey is not at all dependent on Russian energy resources. The fact that Turkey buys russian gas, is just a matter of political and economic choice. In fact, Turkey may have one of the most enviable access to any kind of energy resources.
It has direct access and virtual control on Caspian resources via BTC, etc...., It has direct access to Iran, worlds second untapped reserves. It borders Syria and Irak/Southern Kurdistan, with a de facto control on their oil reserves, via IS or Kurdish structures....
Plus Turkey controls a huge coastline, which gives indirect access to all the LNG from the Persian Gulf of Algeria, if it wished to pay big money, and all the oil of the Persian Gulf via Suez....
The only way to starve it is an international embargo sponsored by the US/EU/Russia and Iran, something that will never happen...

2- Turkey & Russia are not enemies. They have been enemies for very short period of times in history, just as they had been allies for similar short periods.
Most of the time, for the last 3 centuries, they have been competitors or partners.... even in soviet times they did manage to find cooperation fields, while officially engaged in a Cold War.
Bad news is that they are yet again in a partnership mood....

There is a defense pack between Russia and Armenia and also an agreement between Russia and Turkey not to attack Armenia.
Now Russia needs Armenia as an ally strategically and Turkey is NATO so inviting them to attack Armenia would expose our comrades butt.
Last thing Iran wants is to see is a panturkic move by Turkey to Azerbaijan with Armenia destroyed. NATO bases between Iran and Russia popping up.

It really is amazing how you can read something and come to the opposite conclusion despite the facts that are in front of you. Who told who what to do or what not to do? Was it not Europe that said you cannot be a member of both EU and EEU? Was it not Russia who said you can be both? So who is infringing on sovereignty here?
As for Vrej yeh sure Russia does cooperate with Turkey at times but they have been, are, and will be rivals..the geopolitical situation dictates this. There was not, still is not, and will not be any time soon a better option for Armenia then Russia no matter how you look at it. Our options are simple Iran, Turkey, Russia and we have always gone with the best option possible and will always do so because the options are not changing. Europe cannot protect itself let alone protect us even if it wants to(which it does not). Spin it any way you like Vrej..you are simply spinning your wheels.

Thats exactly what I was thinking bro. Arnt western NGOs also telling Armenia what to do which is to go down the path of destruction. I am happy Russians are warning Armenians because Armenians are like little children who always like playing with fire. What normal Armo would wish to be free of Russians in the caucasus? You know what bro people like Mher and the wierdo who poses as a war veteran are more dangerous to Armenia than Turks. I understand Turks more than them. They think they are patriotic and all that without even knowing people like them are the reason why Armenia always gets destroyed.

Bro why are you arguing with someone here on an agenda to convince Armenians that Russia is evil and Armenia can survive in the caucasus without Russian support?
