    Re: Coup in Turkey Thread

unbelievable. A circus act. Military leaders of the 2nd largest army in Europe are not stupid enough to stage a coup with <1000 soldiers taking over non-strategic bridges, bombing random buildings with a single helo, and not capturing the PM who was hanging out at a villa on the sea that could have been leveled with one bomb.

oh, and letting him fly in an unprotected jet right back to istanbul airport in the very middle of the "coup" with every amateur internet flyboy able to track the altitude and location. Surely that helo could have shot down that little plane, in the air or certainly on the ground?

Ridiculous. He just orchestrated his way to mass purge of the military, and islamized the remnant of Turkish society. He will pressure Aliyev to do similar.

Our Sultan neighbor will now be even more trouble, I'm afraid.

I thought the same thing. Came on too strong to suddenly fizzle like that. How do police combat military equipment? Looks like a staged act to reinvigorate the jerk and to divert attention from him and his families criminal activities.
A beak up with USA leaves him isolated but will rise his popularity at home I think. I hope there is an acrimonious fallout with USA.

Now that the coup failed, the sultan will be picking his revenge left and right.
The fear is in him now, he will reign like Stalin with suspicion and will persecute worse.
If you think he used to be a psycho, wait and see what will come out of him soon. Just give him few weeks to re-inflate himself.
