Honestly though, I've always said that I do not criticize because I hate. I criticize based on what I observe, and if what I observe is good, then I will be more than happy to give credit.

Originally posted by TigranJamharianDamn, sorry to be confrontational and all, and this is nothing personal hyejinx, but i am really dejected and pissed off about how uninformed and may i say uninterested, most of the Armenian youth in the US is about what is going on in Armenia these days.
The Dashnaks or Tashnags, whatever you want to call them are one of the oldest Armenian political parties and today are one of the 3 coalition partners in the Armenian parliament.
I must say i am very happy with the Dashnaks as well, they are the only ones at this point who i see as having the ultimate interests of the nation at heart. But i do disagree with them on several key areas, one of them being the opening of the border with turkey.Last edited by HyeJinx1984; 11-16-2004, 04:41 PM."All I know is I'm not a Marxist." -Karl Marx

Some important notes to make on Dashnaks in Armenia:
1) following the 1994 ban on the party, not 1 single political killing occured in Armenia. Then after the ban was lifted in 1998, a series of political killings began to occur. The most catastrophic of which came on Oct. 27, 1999. It is also interesting to note that Nairi Hunanian, the terrorist, was also an "ex" dashnak. Following that event, the ARF's presence increased in the government, to the point of becoming a parthner in the coalition government.
2) In cafe aragil Kocharyans guard killed an Armenian from Georgia who was an ARF member. The dashnaks promised to take it to the international courts and not rest until justice is served, etc.. etc... and then for a couple of seats the ARF sold out its own soldier and all of the sudden became silent on the matter
3) The presence of the NATO including Turkish troops on Armenian soil was just disgusting. How could the ARF participate in such an event? This was the first time since 1915 that Turkish troops put their dirty boots on our sacred Armenian soil.Անտարբեր Մի Եղիր Հայ Ազգի Համար, Վերկաց Գերեզմանից ԱՆԴՐԱՆԻԿ ՓԱ ՇԱ

As with all political organizations world wide, there are a lot of things wrong with the ARF. However, the previous three points you have made only served to show that the ARF is not made up of a bunch of street punks, but is a mature political organization - that Turkey fears most.Մեր ժողովուրդն արանց հայրենասիրութեան այն է, ինչ որ մի մարմին' առանց հոգու:

Originally posted by ArmenianYou know very well that these comments of your are nothing but pure hog-wash. The assasinations you speak of were the works of either the the Americans, Russian or the Turks. A further point: The ARF was formally expelled form Armenia by the traitor Levon. However, in reality, they continued to operate within Armenia. Had they wanted to assasinate Levon (he did ask for it) they would have done so without problems. The ARF chose not to start internal problems within Armenia when the country was in a dire situation.
Following 1994 the ARF's political activities ceased within Armenia. Their leaders were thrown in jail, and their headquarters, offices and papers shut down. They could not perform any function, their hands were tied. No way possibly could they have assassinated Levon.
the fact remains that Vazgen Sarkissian was very popular, uncompromising on the Karabakh issue (not 1 inch of land will be returned he said), and was sure to become Armenias next president. Who would want get him out of the picture? and Why? Perhaps because he rejected the "Goble" plan and rejected pressure from outside forces by not selling Armenian lands (i.e the Megri land swipe in exchange for lachin)? He was not ready to sell Armenian lands. It is often said in politics, "you can only trust those today, who were killed yesterday".
Now while there may be many theories out there on what actually took place and who was the mastermind behind it, lets look at the actual outcome:
the Orinats Yerkir party was mysteriously missing from parliament on that day. Today they are a member in the coalition government and have increased their presence in all levels of government.
The attack was totally aimed at the Miasnutyun Dashink of Vazgens "republican" party and Karen Demirchyans PPA. Interestly enough, with Vazgen gone, the Republican party is represent highly in the government and is overly pro-kocharyan.
The Dashnaks have also increased their presence in all levels of Government. In fact, the dashnaks owe their releglization thanks to Kocharyan.Անտարբեր Մի Եղիր Հայ Ազգի Համար, Վերկաց Գերեզմանից ԱՆԴՐԱՆԻԿ ՓԱ ՇԱ

Originally posted by ArmenianStop the romantic drama, this is politics once again. ARF officially can't oppose NATO. Besides which, Turkish military observers have been comming into Armenia since Armenia's independence.
As with all political organizations world wide, there are a lot of things wrong with the ARF. However, the previous three points you have made only served to show that the ARF is not made up of a bunch of street punks, but is a mature political organization - that Turkey fears most.
BUT, here is the HUGE Problem. among the nato troops are the turkish forces. turkish forces putting their dirty boots on the sacred soil of what remains of our motherland. turkish forces invited by armenian gov't to be in armenia. Its a slap in the face and humiliation to all armenians. If the Der pedrossyan gov't did the, the dashnaks would kick and scream and yell non-stop. goes to show what hypocrites they are.
Anyway, that's not the worste part. In the beginning of the exercieses, anthems of all participating states were played. Also played was the anthem of turkey. dashank members of armenian gov't and parlament were there not only to witness the turkish anthem being played loudly in armenia, but they were to salute the turkish flag and salute the turkish anthem standing up in silence. that's exacly how much our dashnaks hate turks. they hate them so much, that they saluted the turkish flag and the turkish anthem. And the worst of all they did it on our own armenian soil, only a few hundred kilometers from battelfield of sardarabat, only a few miles form unnamed victims of genocide of tsitsernakabert.
if dashnaks were really so anti-turkish, they could refuse to participate. they could protest. they could make noise. they could refuse to join govt. they could refuse to join the ceremony as did all the opposition leaders. but they did what dashnaks have always done, they proved once again that they are traitors. they went and they saluted the flag and the anthem of our eternal enemies. how can a patriotic armenian stand up and salute the turkish flag and the turkish anthom in armenia. how?Last edited by Andranik; 07-30-2005, 11:27 AM.Անտարբեր Մի Եղիր Հայ Ազգի Համար, Վերկաց Գերեզմանից ԱՆԴՐԱՆԻԿ ՓԱ ՇԱ
