Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

SERZH SARKISYAN FOR OPENING TURKISH-ARMENIAN BORDER

Giving an interview to a Yerevan-based government intolerant Aravot
daily Armenia's armed forces minister Serzh Sarkisyan expressed
confidence that the Turkish-Armenian frontier line will unlock in the
    closest future.

Armenian chief military man articulated his surprise over the
discussion ongoing among political and other competent figures
whether or not to open the borders with the neighboring state. They
don't realize a simple truth, i.e. that the opening of frontiers
doesn't depend on us. It is up to Turks. Only after Turkey chooses to
unlock the frontiers have we a possibility to consider benefiting
from it or not,- said Sarkisyan.

He also mentioned that the issue is hardly to have a second answer
bearing in mind that the attitude of most of the lawmakers and
government officials rests on a positive note. Even the traditionally
eternal Turkey disdainer Dashnaks are not speaking against the
    possible occurrence.

In the defense minister's words there should be no preconditions put
forward by Armenia until the Turks decide to open the frontiers. Of
course if Turkey starts making terms, Sarkisyan himself will give up
on them. As for the current situation, Armenia needs not worry about
    preconditions.

You might find the following thread in the armenian news section interesting (especially the second page). I am now too lazy to repeat what I said over there. Very interesting topic though..One that should be discussed for years to come.

yeah why not? it is funny that there's not much trade between... Armenian people should be able to travel conveniently to Turkey also if they want to visit or something...

Funny? I guess that depends on your definition of humour...

There is actually NO trade between Armenia and Turkey as the government of Turkey has imposed an embargo on Armenia, and will (supposedly) only lift it when Armenia abides to these 2 conditions:

1- Armenia stops claiming that the Turks have committed genocide.
2- Armenia evacuates Nagorno Karabakh and gives it to the Azeris.

        Keep dreaming Turkey!

i mean the embargo is funny... is the embargo just because of claims of genocide or what? actually the government doesnt seem to care about it... they dont even do anything about it other than asking US not to recognize it. it seems they care for it more than people thought.

The turkish government is actually quite obsessive about this issue.
Remember when France recognized the genocide a few years back?
Not only where many franco-turk contracts cancelled, the president even made the symbolic gesture of no longer using his french peugeot and using a hyundai. He eventually had to use the peugeot as the Hyundai broke down in its first week (I kid you not, true story).

            Also, in more recent news...

            Ties with Turkey

            Swissinfo, Switzerland
            Oct 3 2003

            03.10.2003 - 12:26

The Swiss government says it wants relations with Turkey to return to
normal as quickly as possible in the wake of a diplomatic incident.
It said it was important to maintain good relations with Ankara for
            both political and economic reasons.

The foreign minister, Micheline Calmy-Rey, confirmed during a cabinet
meeting that the Turkish authorities had postponed her visit planned
            for next week.

The foreign ministry originally said Ankara had cancelled the
invitation after a Swiss regional parliament recognised as genocide
the massacre of ethnic Armenians in eastern Turkey nearly 90 years ago.

            ************************************************** **********

And this was caused by the fact that ONE region of Switzerland recognized the genocide. So yes, they do care, to the point where they probably don't even tell you about how much they do.

YOU HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!! :P

Honestly, I am glad you understand and agree that we have been going through this kind of bullxxxx the past 80 years. Your government's outraged reactions would almost lead one to believe that WE committed the crime.

Baron this issue is only now exposed officially. Do you honestly think that there was no international trade between Armenia and Turkey? It has been going strong for ages, only now there are talks of "officially" opening borders however the back door has always remained open.

Yes, I was well aware that Turkish products end up in Armenia and vice-versa, but this goes much further. This is the potential rehabilitation of Gyumri as an important transpost center, and a much higher trade turnover. And as they say, you never go to war with a country with which you trade. Better economic relations with Turkey would also ensure us better security.
