Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • armenians being the first nation to accept christianity

A few day prior to the 90th anniversary of our ancestors being tortured, raped, killed burned and experiencing things that no other human should ever experience.
My story is that a G-7 hoping everyone knows what that means
I was talking about the subject and mentioned to that person that we were the first nation to accept christianity and he tells me NO! in my face.
I was so pissed off I said YES WE WERE! back in his/her face.
And the I replied back to him/her "I will bring that info in writing".
He says " Don't bother I won't believe you then as well".
So I want to share this story with everyone and tell you
that Evil is everywhere even back in 1915.
Don't let anyone ever hurt you.

Why do you think it is important for you to be saying that Armenia was the first nation to accept Christianity? The circumstances that caused it to come about are not ones that anyone should be particularly proud of. Armenia became, as you put it "the first nation to accept Christianity" because it was an oriental-style despotic state. Whatever the King decided was true (whether it was a sincere belief or just for political reasons) had to be true for everyone, under threat of death.

I think it is very important that Armenia was the first nation to accept Christianity. As for "whatever the King decided was true", thats how most civilizations at the time operated. Thats how the Holy Roman Empire came into bieng. Nothing wrong with that.

The Roman Empire did, providing those religions did not overstep certain boundaries. And many non-Christian temples and institutions were allowed to operate even until as late as the rule of Justinian the Great in the middle of the 6th century.

In terms of a percentage of the overall population, the number of Christians in the Roman Empire at the start of the 4th century far exceeded that of Armenia. But, as soon as King Trdat announced his conversion to Christianity (probably done for political reasons), due to the despotic nature of Trdat's regime everyone else in Armenia had to be seen to do likewise. Armenia was not "the first nation to accept Christianity", it was the first nation to have Christianity enshrined as its state religion to the exclusion of all others.

Armenia was the first nation to except christianity as its sole and state religion. Simple as that. WHy is this important? Well simply because one third of the people living on this earth are christian, and almost all of the most important and powerful countries in the world are christian or have a substantial amount of christians in the population. Being the first official christian state is important to us, because it allows us to differienciate ourselves from our Muslim/Turkic neighbors. It also gives us leverage in europe, and makes it a lot easier for us to integrate into european affairs. Because of the fact we are indo-european and 99.98% of armenians are christian, we are not looked at suspiciously, especially these days, where terrorism is a international threat and muslims are under major scrutiny. Our church preserved our culture, during almost 2 millenia of invasions by turks, persians, arabs, mongols, and even communism. If we were muslim per say we would have been completely assimilated into either Iranian or Turkish society, either by choice or the sword. Being the first official christian state gave us a sense of pride and achievement, and being Christian itself saved our culture, and preserved a lot of if, not all granted, but a lot so that we are able to say today, I AM ARMENIAN MY CHUCH IS ARMENIAN ORTHODOX, MY SPOKEN LANGUAGE IS ARMENIAN. As it is now, this is how it always was, one race, one church, one language, hopefully united, God willing.

                God Bless

                  Good point.

Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish prime minister and jackass extrordinaire, labels the European Union as a "Christian Club."

And it seems that wanabee jackass extrordinaire o0tinerz0o would agree with the label. The difference is that Erdogan, on this point, does not actually believe what he says.
