Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.

    Adile Nasit's mother is greek not armenian and also bekir coskun's step grand-mother is armenian.

        We must not forget the famous Garbis Zakharian, Turkish and European welterweight boxing champion in the mid 50's.

        I was a youngster when Zakharian, in July 1956 visited Buenos Aires for a schedule of three fights, one of them with the classical Argentine champion Cirilo Gil. Zakharian was brought to the Armenian church one Sunday morning in August, he attended service and then was photographed with the archbishop and other dignitaries. He was a great champ, an elegant boxer with excellent moves and reflexes, an officious left jab, and a good right hook, but unfortunately lacked a killer punch . He won his first fight, the second fight was against the Argentine champion Cirilo Gil on the 21 of August , a cold , grey and drizzling Satruday night. The fight held at the Luna Park was packed by 14000 fans to bursting point. A large number of Armenians from Turkey ( who arrived the year before ,fleeing the Turkish progroms against Greek and Armenians in September 1955) had boisterously and fervorously taken control of a sector close to the ringside ,waving the tricolor, the other large throng of Armenian fans had taken control of another sector in the upper stands ,and were in a more sedate mood. Cirilo was a great and spectacular boxer, similar in style to Zakharian, also lacking a knockout punch. The fight begun with Zakharian taking the initiative and outboxing Cirilo for a few rounds. During those rounds the chant of "Zakharian, Zakharian" and the adrenalin flowing from the Armenian fans, the waving of the tricolor by the ring side sector, echoed and reverberated around the stadium. It was a memorable 3 to six minutes when the Luna Park Stadium trembled and resonated to the Zakharian name. Unfortunatley Garbis begun to run out of steam, and Cirilo slowly but surely began changing the course of the fight. On the ninth round ( scheduled fot ten) Cirilo stunned Zakharian with combination punches, but the Armenian, although staggered on his feet ,did not go down. The match ended with Cirilo's win on points.
        His next fight was against Matiniano Pereyra, ranked number two ,who was destined to snatch the Argentile champion title away from Cirilo in December of that year. Martiniano did not possess the skills of Zakharian, nor the fighting class, but he was a slugger and packed a lethal right punch. Zakharian outboxed Matiniano during the first three rounds, but in the fourth he was felled with a right hook and took the count.
        Zakharian went on to lose his European champion title in March of 1957

        He was an exquisite boxer. I wonder what happened to him or where he is today.

            Who are the fascists ? Where are they ? What are they aims and goals ? Is the Turkish establishment a fascist one ? Then the USA and Israel are the biggest fascist entities, precisely because their unstinting support for "fascist" Turkey. How is it possible that "fascist" Turkey is about to be admitted into the EU ? The EU is also , then , a "fascist" blop , since they are guilty of displaying "fascist" preferences by entertaining the admission of " fascist" Turkey into their midst ?.

            Today the word fascist is used liberally to ostracize or to heap opprobrium on anyone opposing the established system. The word is meaningless , akin to "racist" "bigot" "extremist", worn out tools in the calisthenics of semantics hyperbole.

            The Turkish establishment is talking about "dark hands" having perpetrated the heinous crime.

            Hrant Dink was gunned down by a Turk, a Turk , a despicable and unspeakable Turk !!!!!!

                    Out of all those people that you listed I have only heard of Hrant Dink eventhough he has passed away. (R.i.p.).
