Lets just make a long story short, maintaining your Armenian identity in the diaspora is crucial and it is essential you are brought up in an Armenian house hould, there are Armenians around (I live in north nj so thats no problem), visit Armenia regularly, maintain your Armenian, not get too much influenced by American hip hop culture, go to Armenian church, experience armenian culture throughout your life.
I have live in the US almost my whole life and in doing so I have still kept my Armenian identity, mostly because of my family but also because of my pride in my Armenian heritage and our ancient culture that is so rich. I watch armenian televsion broadcasted from yerevan, and even in my room its full of armenian flags, crosses, icons, and paintings (not pictures of rap stars or a fat baseball player 3 times the normal size of a human being), and even though I live in us, I have many armenian friends in school and outside of school, including my parents (so usually its a armenian barbeque every weekend). The main thing is if you have pride in your Armenian heritage and will to sustain you can achieve your goal in sustaining you identity even in the diaspora. Complexion is not all that important, in a way it is if you viist Armenia, however it is kind of hard sustaining armenian identity if you are blonde hair blue eyed, that I can give to you especially if you visit Armenia, they will automatically know you are a westerner and thats not a good start.
Another thing what is all this BS about people being shunned by armenians because they are to "pale" this is the millionth time someone has said that in this forum.
And yes I listen to mostly Armenian music, that is another thing
