There are a lot of names in our culture that I've always thought are uniquely Armenian. For example one of our greatest names - Vardan. But, as it turns out, it's a Parthian name, which was adopted by our people. Once Parthia was gone the name became Armenized and after the Battle of Avarayr the name firmly, and rightly so I may add, found its place in our culture for eternity.
But Vardan is not the only Parthian name we have. There are many Armenized Parthian and Iranian names that are very popular in our culture to this day. For example: Tigran, Artak, Gurgen, Anahit, Suren, Narineh, Karen, Zaruhi, Vacheh, etc.
So, the purpose of this thread is to invite all our members to present here Armenian names that they believe are uniquely Armenian in their origin. Not Parthian/Iranian, not Arabic, not Greek, not Hebrew, not Turkish, not Russian... only Armenian.
Here is my list of just some of Armenian names that I believe are of truly Armenian origin:
Hayk
Naneh
Garegin
Arevik
Parouyr
Hasmik
Drastamat
Knarik
Hrayr
Iskuhi
Gegham
