No one would guess it's China from 1912 to 1928. The five stripes represent the five ethnic groups united under one flag.

Yeah colorful flags always remind us of Africa because Africans are extremely colorful :P

Flags do have some sort of power, at least from an artist's point of view, and I find our flag's colors are nice, but there's something missing. I've seen our current flag simply with the coat of arms and I find that look very nice.

Haha I assure you I was going to say Madagascar on the first one you gave SevSpitak, but I quoted you so I saw the link...sorry.

I don't know why but colorful flags makes you think of Africa, don't they?

    O_o'

This one reminds me of Africa, for some reason.

I find the first one represents us best. Royal, elegant and blood-soaked.

But, if Spain can manage to have their coat of arms on their flag, why not we? (Our coat of arms does our history justice as it represents the heir republic of the ancient Armenian kingdoms).

Well, I find the flag shapes a nations image in some sort. If you see a crescent moon with a star, you immediately know it's a muslim nation. I actually like to decorate whatever I have, and that's no exception to my nation. It makes life more colorful. I would rather have a flag I like to look at than one that is just a few strips of colors with a variation of meanings, which I find reduces the meanings' value.

    Re: Custom flags

There have been discussions for years about the NZ flag, since it has stayed the same since the founding of New Zealand as a British colony. Since nations change over time a flag in some cases might not represent what the nation is after a while...but the main reason (our flag looks too similar to next door Australia's):

Personally I don't want to change the flag, only because a bunch of Rugby heads will change it to the exact copy of the Rugby team logo. In which case. I will never use my NZ passport outside of New Zealand....the humiliation.
