hria? It doesn't seem to be related to "je w", is it possible that it's a reference to the same people that "Hurrian/Hurri" denotes?

Re: the origins of the word for xxx in Armenian
Zariadris is correct, Hria is directly translated as Hebrew and the word (along with the tribe in question) does most probably have its origins in ancient Anatolian peoples such as Hurrians, Habirus, Hyksos and the Hittites... Modern Jews are 'not' the same as the ancient Hebrews. Modern Jews are essentially the surviving remnants of Judea from the Roman period. It's unfortunate that we Armenians still refer to modern Jews as Hebrews. It's incorrect and misleading. In my opinion, Jews should be called Hudayakanner in Armenian.Մեր ժողովուրդն արանց հայրենասիրութեան այն է, ինչ որ մի մարմին' առանց հոգու:

Re: the origins of the word for xxx in Armenian
thanks for the replies. Anyway, we Armenians always make a linguistic reference to Ionians whenever we use the word Huyn to refer to Greeks, are there any other examples of names we use for foreign people that aren't exactly the most accurate for describing their geographic, or even ethnic origins?

1- "Hebrew" and "Habirus"
2- "H(u)ria" and "H(u)r(r)ian"
