  • diasporans and the development of armenia

what have the diasporans been doing for the development of armenia?

they send remittances and stuff, but are they forming a development bank for armenia? are they forming repatriotization corporations?

armenia is missing out on pipeline revenue and had to give up its assets to russia, so what other hope is there besides diasporans? even though you need the russians, you cant deny that they're bleeding armenia too.

i keep on thinking that the singapore model as the only option for armenia. in order to do that, you guys need the diasporans to finance that kind of development.

no doubt there is potential amongst armenians given its educated population, but you need money to get it moving. why not just create a de facto diaporan tax? make an armenian development bank with diasporan deposits. that seems like it could do tremendous wonders.

what have the diaporans been doing? and what do you guys have on the drawing board given that situation seems stagnant?

have some of these things been tried?

I have been interested in the Singapore model, but not yet studied it enough. There are things we can learn from it. Here is an article that can get you on the way:

Thanks for the article, it was a good read. I think the Singapore model could work for Armenia but obviously it would have to be tweaked in order to better fit the political, social and geographic conditions of Armenia. Also, since Armenia is 97-98% Armenian, mixing in a bit of nationalism would work wonders as well.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.
