  • Armenian wealth in the US

I am doing a research project for my post-Soviet Armenian course and would love to hear answers from all the Armenians out there on how you feel Armenians have adapted to life in the west. I am curious specifically about those Armenians who have come relatively recently from Armenia (where the economy is not doing to well) and have managed to become quite affluent in the states. Any ideas why or how they become so successful?
    Any discussion is appreciated!

I was born in the West (Canada) I am not Armenian. But I wanted to say that I knew an Armenian guy who was very poor in Yerevan who had no social services there to look after him and he came to Canada cause my uncle helped him get PR and he's now a wealthy lawyer who works in Vancouver. The Armenian guy came wealthy because he had the financial clout from my family we managed to organize a payment plan to get him back on his feet. His attitude was positive and had the will to change from rags to riches

A native speaker of English would not make such a stupid mistake. I'm quite convinced this "JohnCanadian" is not really a Canadian, and you should be too. Maybe he's a turk, maybe not but I wouldn't take any advice from him on the status of Armenians in the West...

        John, don't take it personally.
As you'll see from my other post 4000 years of invasion and subjugation will live a community quite hostile to outsiders. Its an unfortunate neccessity of survival when you are from the caucasus.

        Regarding the Thread...
My father came to Canada from Jordan with the clothes on his back and a British education. From there he got a university education in Toronto and did quite well for himself (Currently drives a 2008 Benz E-350 Sport). I dont know if it helps but Armenians have made a culture of education and commerce. For instance, Chess players in Armenia share the sort of fame football players have in Europe and abroad.

Thanks for your assurance. I was wondering if I did something to offend some people here. Yeah for sure Armenians are highly educated people. I admire the Armenian culture in Canada they really get into the arts they contribute well to Canadian Society.

I understand the hostility If my country was invaded over 4000 years I would be the same to its normal. Your only trying to defend your country and its people. I respect that
