Anyone know about the safety of new construction in Armenia

I've read two or three articles claiming a lot of buildings are being built without taking into account stability during an earthquake or structural integrity and that the people who issue permits are on the big boys payrolls.

I know a lot of people on this forum have visited Armenia or are close with people who live there,does anyone have first hand knowledge of how many of the new buildings take into account real architecture?

Armenian earthquake specialists have repeatedly said that one earthquake could destroy half of Yerevan with the casualties in the tens of thousands. The newest buildings seem to be safe but there are many buildings where floors have been added to the structure making one part non-earthquake resistant which could spell disaster. Overall, we are in deep sh!t if another one hits... i'm disappointed that we keep making the same mistakes, we will never learn.
