  • Help needed for names in Armenian Language!

[COLOR="DimGray"] Alo guys, am new here and would like to know about Armenian tradition and culture along with its language.

For now, I would like to know about how would we write these following things in Armenian language/fonts. I would really appreciate if any of you helps me out with this. Thanking in anticipation

    1. Vampire
    2. Vamp
    3. Vampy
    4. Legolas (here 'g' is pronounced as in 'gone')

Anyone, who would like to reply with answer... must write in the order that I have written so I don't confuse something with anything. Best way to answers would be, if you write with numbers as I have. Like 1. Vampire and so on.

    Thanks.
    - Vampy

Hello Vampy, strange choice of words there. but here you go (I have not capitalized, as you have in English, except for the last name - Legolas)

    1. Vampire - a. վամպիր (transliterated - vampir), b. հոգեգեշ (transliterated - hogegesh, literally - devourer of soul.) c. սատակ (transliterated - satak)

    2. Vamp - վամպ (transliterated - vamp)

    3. Vampy - վամպիրական (transliterated - vampirakan)

    4. Legolas - Լեգոլաս (transliterated - Legolas )

Your welcome, I hope your interest in Armenian goes beyond words that are associated with vampires. Best.

Lolz... you grabbed my collar with that! But let me tell you it really goes beyond those names. You know why? My girl friend is an Armenian, living in Edgmiadzin

Well, let me prove it to you that it goes beyond that... I want you to write Gladiator in Armenian now. 'G' as is in 'Gone' again.

Thanks again for your support at this initial stage

"Vamp" it is a bit of an obsolete word even in the English-speaking world. Would an Armenian equivalent perhaps translate as
"devourer of male attentions" (or "devourer of money").

Well, you are right there, in fact I had to use a dictionary for that one ROFL and that is what I got in terms of a (often female) 'seducer' of an eligible bachelor (in more 'modern' parlance a gold digger). and that is what I got. It is indeed quite obsolete, but I had to "do the best" as I could for our friend here and just gave him direct transliteration in Armenian letters.
