Re: Armenian Indy Film playing tomorrow in L.A.
Actually, it was on the 9th. I don't think it will be screening again, but I'll let you know if I hear anything.
Honestly, Gladiator is not a perfect film but it is far superior in comparison to 300. These two films were released before I began studying cinema, and I came this decision then. 300 is a comic book adaptation. It's shot in a closet; everything is computer generated with nothing but green screens. There's no room for acting, no performance, and it's all smokes and mirrors. Gladiator utilized some extensive CGI, and while many people thought it was a gimmick (like Roger Ebert, who brought up some valid points), I thought it was a good film. I thought much fo the characters were two dimensional, except for Russell Crowe. Overall, it was a film. 300 is anything but that.
I don't even know if you know if your points are valid. Mongol is a decent film, but The Secret in their Eyes is not even comparable to these films. I loved The Secret in their Eyes but it is no way a film like these; it's not even about an epic battle or anything, so I don't see the point of bringing it up.
I think it's best if we only discuss this Armenian film, or other independent films of its kind. If anybody has any specific questions about Yerek Yereko, I'll be happy to answer them. Or else, we have gone far off topic.
