AS ROME BURNS

To say we had nothing to do
with our defeats and catastrophes
is to pretend to be deaf, dumb and stupid.

Nationalism and birds flying in formation:
I see a connection.

When it comes to being dupes of their 1%,
Armenians and Turks might as well be twins.
*
To our bosses, bishops and benefactors
we are their main source of prestige and income.
They need us more than we need them.
They don’t have a choice,
we do (assimilation).
They are or pretend to be as much dupes
of their own propaganda as the rest of us.
Their favorite pastime:
to fiddle as Rome burns.
