    Re: politics

It is widely known among citizens of a democracy
that politics is the second oldest profession
and that in many ways it resembles the first.
Fascists agree but they think this does not apply to fascism.
    Which amounts to saying,
“Our bordello madams, unlike yours, are virgins.”

    POLITICS
    *************************
    If we don’t understand everything
it’s because a great deal is hidden from us.
    *
    Consider what would have happened
if Germans had won World War II.
The Holocaust would have been covered up
and anyone who dared to mention it
    would be charged with offending
    Germanishness.
    *
    If we don’t understand everything
it’s because there is a Trump in all of us,
    including Obama.
    *
If we are willing to be subservient
to crooks and liars it’s because
    it is quintessentially human
to prefer pleasant lies to unpleasant truths,
especially truths that may exposed us
as bloodthirsty barbarians or incompetent dupes.

If as an Armenian among Armenians you can survive without kissing ass, you deserve an entry in WHO'S WHO.

Marx said, other philosophers only tried to interpret the world; he was going to change it; but he was wise enough not to say “for the better”; he was even wiser when he said, “I am not a Marxist!”

“I paint with my prick,” Renoir is quoted as having said.
    Many others think with theirs.

I have heard some Armenians say we should forgive the Turks, but I have never heard an Armenian say we should forgive our fellow Armenians.

Patriotic historiography has as much validity as patriotic chemistry, physics, or mathematics.

    Re: politics

Some of my readers think I say strange, unorthodox, unpatriotic things because they have not read our writers. It is almost as if they were equating Armenianism with total ignorance of Armenian literature. They remind me of Catholics who are not encouraged to read the Bible lest they misunderstand it.

    NOTES / COMMENT
    *********************
    No one likes to speak
    of half-Armenians and half-Turks
because no one wants to be accused
    of bastardizing a nation.
    *
Before you adopt a belief system or ideology,
    study its history and count the number of its victims;
and remember, it was in the name of patriotism
    that we were massacred.
    *
    Like all leaders ours too
    speak with a forked tongue.
    They speak “united we stand,”
    but practice “divided we fall.”
    They exploit our complexes
    and contradictions as opposed
    to exposing them.
    With Armenians like these,
    who needs Turks?
