    A good book to read about this, aswell as the pogroms in Sumgait and Baku and the war in Karabakh, is "Armenia: Portraits of Survival and Hope" by Donald and Lorna Miller. It's an easy read and it teaches you alot about what happened during that time and provides statements from survivors.

      : sad to say i was there -- in gyumri when the earthquake happened- i was only about 2-3 years old but i remember EVERYTHING ... esp loosing my cousin... just something in my life i wish i could erase and forget- we had alot of hard times til we were able to readjust...

      anywhoo.. this helped my development of earthquake phobia.... wish something like that never happens...

        If my family did not move to the United States prior to the earthquake; given the time of the day the earthquake hit, my mother, myself, and my brother would not be alive today. We lived in a building (on the top floor) similar to the one in this picture, but ours was reduced to rubble.

          thats a familiar site i would say... i jsut remember the rubble...the dust in the air....amist the cold fresh winter air...the dust from the concrete that had been broken apart was fresh n the air and within every breath we took...bad memories
