Its not as we would outnumber the turks with our now 7/8 mililon armenian population in the world. Assimilation will strenghten our nation yes,,,but it won't help us to defend on country in war.

My point is, you are in X(any country other than Armenia). This is not your country. You are just a guest. If you intend to stay here you better forget what you were used to before, respect and adopt the culture of your host country and "assimilate". This doesn't deprive you of your ethnic identity. Most Irish and Italian Americans are fully assimilated yet they retain their "ethnicness".

I am aware of the fact that people are able to be well adapted in one country while having their ethnic identity tied to another. This is not assimilation. In assimilation the key factor is the loss of previous ethnic identity. I have been in US longer than any other country, and am very much "assimilated" as in well adapted and "used" to this country. I have US citizenship, blah blah... Usually when we use the word "assimilate" in discussion, we presume the loss of "ethnicness" or ethnic identity.

Although Ive visited Armenia twice, I never actually got used to it anyway. I found my ethnic identity AFTER moving here. I dont know where I will live out the rest of my life after school. I will choose and adapt according to my needs and wishes at the time, but the point is that I will preserve my "ethnicness" no matter where I am.
