Well, our own Valentines day passed 2 (3?) days ago in Armenia. Happy Valentines day people.

If you've never celebrated Trendez...that sucks. You should go one winter to Armenia with your friends and enjoy the day.

ace, that must be a very young holiday. Last time I remember we had men's/Father's day on Feb 23rd, also called Army Day. On May 8th we have women's/Mother's day. I never knew we had our own Valentine's day.

Valentine's Day is just a ploy to sell candy and flowers.

Makes single people feel shitty that they're still single, and as for couples, it's the only day they need to buy something nice for their signifcant other. As if they can't do that on their own, on another day. They need to do it on "Valentine's Day". If you love someone, you should buy them candy and flowers, or whatever it is, whenever you want. Not on this holiday.

I'm sick of people saying, "Oh, no, Valentine's Day is here. I hate Valentine's Day, I'm single! "

I've never had a Valentine, and never will.

on the subject of valentines in armenia...this is new? i too was unaware that there was such a celebration there.

Its a pagan festival in celebration of fire and couples are supposed to jump over the fire a few times its supposed to take away bad spirits and such. I love how we still have a few pagan holidays left over and people still celebrate them. if you ask me we were doing a lot better without this whole christianity thing.

Christianity and the Apostolic church saved the Armenians. We would've ended up being like the countless other Anatolian tribes that got sucked into Islam and would've assimilated into Turkish Identity.

And the Church is the last fiber keeping the Armenian Diaspora connected.
