  • Armenian films...

Some that I will definitely be seeing soon:

Calendar (Atom Egoyan, 1993) A movie about some dude taking pictures of Armenian churches. Always fun.

The Color of Pomegranates (Sergei Parajanov, 1968) Also known as Sayat Nova...

Mayrig (Henri Verneuil, 1992) Along with the rest of Verneuil's oeuvre.

Menk enk, mer sarere (Henrik Malyan, 1970) The plot interests me for some reason.

Mimino (Georgi Daneliya, 1977) Okay, so technically it's Georgian or Soviet. However, an Armenian is one of the major characters in the film.

Pierlequin (Tigran Khzmalyan, 2001) Biopic on Armenian-Russian clown Leonid Yengibarov. I like.

Vodka Lemon (Hiner Saleem, 2003) Movie about a bleak Kurdish village in post-Soviet Armenia. How can you go wrong with a setting like this?

    More to come.

That Votka Lemon is garbage....grade A dumpster juice. If I was you, I'd try to save my time, but if you feel you need to see it, than by all means....I found it to be boring...period, just boring. All you see is a bunch of snow, and a boring plot. One word to describe this movie would be snow.

go on www.hamovhotov.com and check their movie section. They got loads of Armenian flicks for download.

I've seen Parajanov's masterpiece. Extremely symbolic and rich movie, rich with silent emotions, rich with colors, rich with beautiful artistic presentation.

I also have seen Menk enk mer sarer@. It's actually a very good film. It's both amusing and both deep. The first shot itself is neat. It shows a medley of famouse world iconic events, you know grandiouse things, like the formula 1, cabaret, World Cup, war, etc. and then in a second it shifts to the mountains of Armenia during the evening. Quiet and seeminly lightyears away from civilization. I liked it.
