My parents will be staying at the Ani Plaza Hotel.

      Re: hotel shirak

It's a big, 1970s-appartment-block-style hotel near the center of Yerevan. Apart from that, I don't know since it was full when I tried to get a room there last year (a good thing since I found a better place at a better price).

          Re: hotel shirak

Sorry, I'm not telling. I want the hotel to remain quiet and little-known. But maybe I'll PM you if you promise not to tell others.

              It is not!
Anyone that wants to pay $15 for a bed in a shared room full of strangers, without breakfast, needs their head examined. And look at the check-in time: 2pm!! What are you meant to do if you arrive in the morning? Sit in the lobby for 5 hours or pay an extra $15?

                try Erebuni

Hotel Shirak and Erebuni are in the same class as far as i know but Erebuni is right on the main square (hrabarak) right across Marriotte.
If you want cheap and close i would reccomend it. i stayed there five years ago. The rooms are small and the beds are small too but for the price considering it's in the best location I think it's good enough. I might have some photos of the room, if I find them i will post them.
As for Shirak, I don't now much.
check this link for all hotels in yerevan: http://armenianpages.com/AP-armenia-hotels.htm#2star. Notice that some of the hotels do have web sites but some don't work for whatever reason. Also it's best to call or write email to find out about availability and price for the time period you want to go.
                Good luck.

One tiny thing. There's a mistake on the first hotel. It writes "Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan," but I think that hotel is the "Golden Palace," if I'm not mistaken.

The Hotel Bass is lovely hotel, but you will have to do some hard bargaining if you want to get a room at the lowest $60 rate.
