  • New Armenian Language learning software

For anybody interested, I found a decent Armenian language learning software at http://store.digitalriver.com/store/...goryID.5322200

    BUT:

They have other languages also...such as Azeri. After I bought the product I noticed a picture of the "We are the Mountains" monument on the cover of the Azeri box.
    Check it out: http://store.digitalriver.com/store/...goryID.1622000
I guess the company couldn't find any Azeri monument to put on the box (go figure) so they used an Armenian one.
This is both a compliment and an isult at the same time.

Re: New Armenian Language learning software

It's obviously intentionally chosen, since it's in Arcakh. They think they're being clever.

edit: btw, "Menk enk mer sarere" can be translated also as "It's us and our mountains". I know the movie by that name has a comma after "Menk enk", so it's the second meaning. But I don't know, maybe the name of the monument is the first meaning. Both meanings are "meaningful" and interesting though.

This company sells language software for many languages...With that said, I think the cover was probably just a stupid oversight from some marketing guy who couldn't spell Azerbaijan, never mind know any history about the country.

Anyway, I sent an email to the company to let them know of their error

Also, if I was Azeri (thank God I'm not), I would be pissed if I saw an Armenian monument on the cover...I'd ask for my money back.

If you were an Azeri (thank god you're not), you'd probably swear it was an Azeri monument.

What is "azerbaijani"? Over 70% of it is Persian/Arabic.

That monument was unveiled by Heydar Aliyev. I don't know whether it was meant to be Armenian or Azeri. I think it was supposed to represent "Karabakh unity" in the same way the Greek Cypriot flag was used to represent "Cypriot unity" before the Turks established their own state in the north (and of course adopted a flag with the crescent and star).
