The Armenian Surnames

I wonder what that addings means at the end of many Armenian surnames...I'm talking about the -ian,-yan adds..
for exmp:mahcupyan,tuncboyaciyan,deveciyan,malakian...
I think that it's just like "son" in english or "oglu" in Turkish am I right?

The "ian" and "yan" represent "son of".
