Just wanted to post this for general interest. The graph in the second link clearly shows that Armenia has gone up to a new high since 1990. Notice the sharp fall in 1995, although most of the CIS countries took that hit. Now it's ranked 80th, 3 places below Ukraine, and way ahead of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia. It's not a great place, but considering the factors against us (blockade, resource shortage, corruption, etc ...), it is pretty amazing.
Also, Armenia is ranked in top 37th out of 180 countries with respect to how close the Gender Development Index, which is like HDI but adjusted for gender inequalities, is to the HDI. The higher is the percentage the better, which means that there are less disparities.
