The "well full of trash" is the cathedral itself. Behind the cathedral is just the untidy left over of a murder scene - the murderers didn't bother to clean the place up afterwards because they knew they could act with impunity. The two victims were the park that was destroyed to become the site of that monument to obscenity and the landscape of Ani that was destroyed to provide building materials for it.

When it was time to decide on a name, I'm sure it was a difficult decision to choose between Saint Gregory and Saint Louise Manoogian Cathedral.

Did you guys know there's a Facebook group for "McDonald's Armenia"? Are there plans to open one?

I always liked that Armenia was one of the few countries in this world that hadn't been McDonaldized (although I understand there are a couple of KFCs in Yerevan now, ugh).
