NICK CLOONEY DELIVERS POWERFUL CALL TO ACTION URGING PASSAGE OF
    ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RESOLUTION

Rep. Steve Chabot Casts Critical Committee Vote in Support of H.Res.106

CINCINNATI, OH - Cincinnati area native and veteran newsman, Nick
Clooney, delivered a riveting call to action in support of the
Armenian Genocide resolution (H.Res.106) at the Ohio premiere of
the award-winning movie "Screamers." A capacity crowd attended the
October 10th event at the famed National Underground Railroad
    Freedom Center.

The venerable Clooney described the time he went to visit his
sister Rosemary Clooney for dinner in her California home back in
1952. Mr. Clooney mentioned that there were two other guests at
his sisters' house for dinner that evening, William Saroyan and
Ross Bagdasarian who together wrote the hit song "Come On-a My
House" which Rosemary's voice carried to the top of the charts in
    1951.

Mr. Clooney somberly recalled how that night at his sister's house
over 50 years ago he "learned what had happened to the Armenians".

The event followed a day of intense debate on Capitol Hill
resulting in the passage of the Armenian Genocide Resolution in the
House Foreign Affairs Committee by a vote of 27 ` 21. Cincinnati
Representative Steve Chabot (OH-1) cast an important vote in favor
of the resolution, which recognizes the Genocide of 1.5 million
Armenian men woman and children at the hands of the Ottoman Turks
    in 1915.

Nick Clooney praised Rep Chabot for speaking truth to power in
recognizing the Armenian Genocide and for recently traveling to
Darfur and speaking out against the genocide occurring there right
now which is claiming 500 innocent people every day. House speaker
Nancy Pelosi has vowed to bring the Armenian Genocide Resolution to
a full house vote before the next congressional recess in mid
    November.

"The high turnout and positive feedback from this event drive home
the point that the American people want to see a responsible US
foreign Policy that not only recognizes Genocide but that actually
does something to stop it" said David Krikorian Chairman, Armenian
    National Committee of Ohio.

The Cincinnati SCREAMERS tour included three additional screenings
of the film on October 11th including campus screenings at Northern
Kentucky University (11:00 AM), and the University of Cincinnati
(4:00 PM) and a benefit screening at The Esquire Theater in Clifton
(7:30 PM). Attendance was strong at each event with a final tally
    at slightly over 400.

"Screamers" is an award-winning, internationally produced
documentary that details the history of modern-day genocide
beginning with the Armenian genocide in 1915, traveling through the
Holocaust era, exploring what happened in Cambodia, Rwanda and
other countries and ends with the genocide currently happening in
    Darfur.

The film was produced and directed by award-winning, humanitarian
activist Carla Garapedian. CNN's Larry King called "Screamers", "A
brilliant film. Everyone should see it." The Village Voice, the
nation's first and largest alternative newspaper, calls the film:
    "Genius!"

"Screamers" debuted at the American Film Institute (AFI) Film
Festival in November and won the coveted AFI Audience Award.

The National Underground Freedom Center is located at 50 East
Freedom Way, Cincinnati, OH 45202. Additional Cincinnati-area
screenings will take place on October 11th with a screening at
Northern Kentucky University's University Center (Room #11) at
10:50 a.m.; a second screening at the UC Theatre located at the
University of Cincinnati at 4 p.m. and another screening to benefit
Not On My Watch at the Esquire Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

The Cincinnati-area "Screamers" screenings are being co-sponsored
by the Armenian National Committee of Ohio, The Center for
Holocaust and Humanity Education, The Franciscan Network, The
Genocide Intervention Network, Not On Our Watch and the Just
Community Initiative at the University of Cincinnati.

Thats pretty ironic. Well its very honorable of Clooneys father to be outspoken. His sister got famous from that song so it must mean alot to him.
Would be nice if a George said something about it or a big name celeb to get media attention.
I notice most high profiled-famous Armenians stay out of it besides SOAD.
I saw Ara Hovannian on Fox news tonight talking about the stock market for about 30 minutes.

Nightowl, I was thinking the same thing re: big ticket Armenian celebrities in America??

Its likely that since the 'most powerful' person in Hollywood quoting Michael Eisner is also one of the most powerful American J-ewish leaders and also a genocide denier that they (our celebrities) opt to remain on the sidelines for fear of being relegated to singing at weddings.

Freaky whos the most powerful person in hollywood, xxxx cook? Michael Eisner said something about the genocide? I dont know much about this. Strange since the tall armenian tale is made by that cartoonist who worked for Disney.
Yea i think its why big named armenian celebs are quiet. Eric Bogosian was interviewed by E the other day, didnt say anything. He doesnt want to lose that Law and Order job.

Re: Nick Clooney, a screamer? Where's George Clooney.

Michael Eisner told U.S. State Dept. officials that Bruce Ramer - George Clooney's attorney among others - is probably the most powerful person in Hollywood. I didn't say it.

As national president of the American J-ewish Committee, Mr. Ramer, in the presence of George Bush, Vincente Fox, Madeline Albright and Shimon Peres, among others, at a D.C. dinner held in Mr. Ramer's honor, at the AJC national convention, in 2001, basically called Shimon Peres a poet. The AJC openly lobbies for Turkey to opposed US recognition of the genocide and Ramer remains its 'honorary' president. Shimon Peres notoriously denies the genocide. Mr. Bush agreed with Mr. Ramer's depiction of Mr. Peres.

Yea, as for Mr. Bogosian, he wouldn't let someone take a picture of us together after I bought his book at his book signing/reading in Los Angeles. Very talented but very full of himself.

He's an Armenian from Massachussetts but considers New Yorkers his peeps.
Then again, I really don't blame him for detachment from Armenian-Americans, at the hall where the book reading was there was maybe two other Armenians in the venue.

But, I still put him in the column of self-loathing Armenians.

He wouldn't know if he was in the company of other famous/accomplished Armenian artists for his life. He is artistically isolated.

Nick Clooney apparently got his gig back at the cincinnati post and, in his column, recently wrote about the need to recognize the genocide and addressed differing opinions on his piece re: the genocide recognition resolution in letters to the newspaper.

Who will speak for America's soul??? I thought your son had assumed that position, Nick. Yeah, somehow he's become a talking puppet for his J-ewish neoconservative attorney.

Sure, Amal Alamuddin, Clooney's wife, represents Armenia in front of the ECHR but he still uses an attorney who belongs to an american j-ewish organization (AJC) - http://www.ajc.org/site/c.7oJILSPwFf...our_Region.htm - that lobbies for Turkey and aligns with Azerbaijan. Clooney is a tool!!

Re: Nick Clooney, a screamer? Where's George Clooney.

Those Armenians who are aligning with Clooney and Elie Wiesel commemorate the genocide through 100Lives are foolish.

His attorney is involved in at least one organization that promotes Turkey's and Azerbaijan's interests in the U.S., and, elsewhere.

Rather than inviting this smarmy rat to the table, you should be putting him to task for hiring and paying a person that has supported Turkey in promoting the non-recognition and denial of the Armenian genocide.

And, Elie Wiesel ain't anyone to be proud of aligning yourself to for genocide remembrance. He once said that you can't call what happened to Armenians a genocide because the word didn't exist when it happened.
