Hi,
I am working on a project about Armenian villages in Marmara Region ( Turkey ),especially some villages in Kocaeli District.I met with the local administration head in Bahcecik district and found that the old name of Bahcecik was Barzidag ( in Armenian ).
Local Administration web site http://www.bahcecik.bel.tr/tr/default.asp
There is an old American Mission School and honestly I felt like the whole village is crying. The locals dont like to talk about Armenians but looks like they are really interested in Armenian golds around the mission school and other places.
I wonder if there is anyone reading this forum have roots from Barzidag?
** I met with the local police chief to prepare a video record about Barzidag.I am sure every single Armenian will love it.
Also there is a village called Akmeşe (in Turkish ).Locals say it name was Armash or Armeshe in Armenian. There is still an Armenian Church ( Charhapan ) but not being used.
Thanks,
S.Slusher
