I knew about the Armenian Genocide and of the Pontian Genocide so I tried to make an article that explained the Genocide from an overall perspective.

The extreme hostility towards Greeks and Armenians started well before the early 1800's. The reasons were that an early attempt was being made to enlist more soldiers into the Ottoman army. The problem was that only Muslims were allowed to be soldiers. Mahmud II required a quota from Greeks and Armenians of one son per five to be raised as a Janisarry. This meant that a village had to meet its quota of Janissary candidates. There after the shildren were taken to academies where they were raised as muslims and trained as soldiers.
During the Ottoman rule over Anatolian and Mainland Greeks as well as Armenia, Christianity slowly became tolerated by the Turkish rulers and considered the Patriach of Constantinople as the leader of the Greeks as they also considered the Archibishop of Armenia as the leader of Armenians....
