The huge population exchange was an agreement reached at the Lausanne Treaty. And by the way the Greeks that left Turkey was far more than 190,000.. it was more like 1.5 million, and about 500,000 Turks came to Turkey. The nationalists of both Turkey and Greece wanted ethnically homogenic countries even though some were allowed to stay behind. I am pretty sure Turks have killed a lot of innocent Greeks like they killed many other innocent people but any decent Greek I meet also accepts their own attrocities during their invasion of Western Anatolia. I think Turks and greeks have reaached an understanding of eachother on many levels. After the Cyprus issue is settled the two countreis IMO will become very strong partners int he region.

in this war as you said 1,5 million greeks were deported from turkey and 500000 turks from greece. This was a result of the defeat of the greek army.
As you can see the results of this war were not so fair as they say to you.

But anyway after that it was a deal that in turkey 200000 greeks will remain, recognized as greeks. Also 150000 muslims would remain in greece recognized as greek muslims. Also Imbros and Tenedos (2 aegean islands that belong to turkey) were greek before this deal. They were given to turkey for strategical reasons although they were greek-inhabited(more than 90%).
What turks did?
In WW2 they adopted a law ,practically recognizing the christians as inferior citizens since they were forced to pay more taxes than the muslim ones! This was a law that Mustafa Kemal has dropped. This law was suppressing the christian people of Ottoman empire and the turks were bringing this law back. After WW2, in 1955 they deported ILLEGALLY 150000 greeks from Constantinople to make greeks afraid turkey so that have better negotiation basis in Cyprus issue. Also turkey stopped granting autonomy to the greeks of imbros and tenedos and in 1992 prohibited the use of greek language in public! All these measures have resulted to the total disappearance of greeks of turkey. From the 15 million in 1071, the 3 million in 1900, the 300000 the greeks of Anatolia are 3000 nowdays! They are still suppressed and turkey is not willing to grant them the rights she should!
In contrast Greece does exactly what the treaty says!
The treaty talks about muslim minority, not turkish!
If turks want the muslims to be recognized as turks then they must grant all rights that treaty of lusanne gave to the greeks of turkey AND give some more to the patriarch.

You cannot sign a treaty and then break it and at the same time asking more rights!
The muslims of Greece have the same rights with the rest with the exception of the learning of language and history in schools. Of course they can speak their language but they just learn greek in schools.

Turkey should better look her minorities first! Turkey recognizes only 2 minorities. Greek (3000, from the 200000) and kurdish. The kurdish minority was recognized only after great pressure from EU. Before 20 years it was prohibited to talk about kurdish minority and the language was prohibited in public.
Also laz, georgian, greek, armenian muslims are not recognized but only as turks. Even the armenian christians as recognized as turks! +jews!

Turkey must:
-let all greeks of Imbros return
-Grant the autonomy as the treaty said
-Let 150000 greeks go back to Constantinople (istanbul)
-Grant them all rights that every other citizen has and PROTECT them from the fascist killers and rapists Gray Wolves.
-Recognize all serious minorities that want their recognition.
-Allow these minorities to have cultural rights and to preserve their identity.
-If not to recognize the armenian genocide, then at least, repair the armenians that were massacred and let the survivors come back and live in their ancient lands with safety. the same for the greeks of pontos and assyrians.
-Change the constitution. Turkey must NOT be the land of turks only but but be the land of her inhabitants, independently of nation or religion.

As for the greek-turkish war ,yes there were some massacres from greek army against innocent turk civilians, mainly during to the retreat phase. In wars these things happen ,usually to both sides. But as you can understand since we lost ,our people were victims of extensive violence, especially in Smyrna. This was a war.

BUT what happened to the armenians of Van ,to the greeks of Pontos ,to the assyrians was NOT war but genocide planned by the young turks and taken advantage of the war. During WW1 until 1917 there was not war between turkey and greece but yet the christians of turkey suffered greatly in the hands of the fascists young turks. These genocides had no other goal than turning ottoman empire to a muslim inhabited land.

The gray wolves were the successors of these young turks. Turkey should face the reality, should face the past. Gray wolves should face trial.

We ,greeks ,would want to recognition of every genocide, no matter who did that against whom.
The fact that we have a common enemy is something that make the recognition of the armenian genocide even more wanted.
Armenian genocide has not 2 sides. It was so disgusting act of extermination that anyone should recognize it, no matter of ethnicity.
